Sabrina Carpenter Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

Now he′s thinkin' ′bout me every night, oh
Is it that sweet? I guess so
Say you can't sleep, baby, I know
That's that me, espresso
Move it up, down, left, right, oh
Switch it up like Nintendo
Say you can′t sleep, baby, I know
That′s that me, espresso

I can't relate to desperation
My ′give a fucks' are on vacation
And I got this one boy
And he won′t stop calling
When they act this way
I know I got 'em

Too bad your ex don′t do it for ya
Walked in and dream came trued it for ya
Soft skin and I perfumed it for ya
I know I Mountain Dew it for ya
That morning coffee, brewed it for ya
One touch and I brand newed it for ya

Now he's thinkin' ′bout me every night, oh
Is it that sweet? I guess so
Say you can′t sleep, baby, I know
That's that me, espresso
Move it up, down, left, right, oh
Switch it up like Nintendo
Say you can′t sleep, baby, I know
That's that me, espresso

(Holy shit)
Is it that sweet? I guess so

I′m working late 'cause I′m a singer
Oh, he looks so cute wrapped around my finger
My twisted humor, make him laugh so often
My honey bee, come and get this pollen

Too bad your ex don't do it for ya
Walked in and dream came trued it for ya
Soft skin and I perfumed it for ya
I know I Mountain Dew it for ya
That morning coffee, brewed it for ya
One touch and I brand newed it for ya

Now he's thinkin′ ′bout me every night, oh
Is it that sweet? I guess so
Say you can't sleep, baby, I know
That′s that me, espresso
Move it up, down, left, right, oh

Say you can't sleep, baby, I know

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Sabrina Carpenter's song "Espresso" delve into themes of self-assurance, power dynamics in relationships, and the confidence that comes with knowing one's own worth. The opening lines describe how the subject of the song is constantly on the mind of another person, indicating that they hold a significant place in their thoughts. The mention of espresso as a metaphor suggests that the singer brings a heightened energy and intensity to this person's life, akin to a strong shot of caffeine that leaves a lasting impression. The repetition of the phrase "Is it that sweet? I guess so" seems to reflect a sense of satisfaction in knowing the impact they have on this individual.

The lyrics convey a sense of detachment and self-assuredness, with lines like "I can't relate to desperation, my 'give a fucks' are on vacation." This suggests that the singer is not easily swayed by others' opinions or actions, and remains secure in their own sense of self-worth. The reference to a persistent admirer who won't stop calling contrasts with the singer's nonchalant attitude, indicating that they are used to having people captivated by them.

The song goes on to describe how the singer feels they are a superior choice compared to the listener's ex-partner, highlighting qualities like soft skin and a sense of allure that they bring to the table. The mention of coffee and other beverages like Mountain Dew symbolically represent the singer's ability to uplift and energize the other person's life in a way that the previous partner couldn't. This imagery reinforces the idea that the singer is a refreshing and revitalizing presence for the listener.

Overall, the lyrics of "Espresso" by Sabrina Carpenter paint a picture of a confident and self-assured individual who is unapologetically themselves. The metaphorical references to caffeine and video games serve to illustrate the singer's dynamic and engaging presence in the life of the listener, while also emphasizing their sense of self-worth and the unique qualities they bring to the relationship. The repetition of the phrase "That's that me, espresso" throughout the song reinforces the idea that the singer is a potent and unforgettable force in the life of the person they are addressing.

I agree with taking everything on this site with a grain of salt. Having said that, I get a kick out of a lot of the AI interpretations here. Sometimes the analysis will hilariously miss the point, other times it will be surprisingly on-target and even poignant. There are also songs here that the AI has analyzed that no humans have ever bothered writing about, which I find valuable. I know it's not popular to be a fan of AI these days, even if the tech itself seems pervasive, but I do appreciate the AI lyric interpretations for what they are.

Take it al with a grain of salt from this site. I'm a longtime human writer and critic of music. I was published in magazines and paid for my thoughts. I studied aesthetics and semiotics and music. Now the internet is filling up with not only amateurs who have no qualifications to write about music but also AI who give bland ideas like these found on this site. Be discerning, cultivate your independent thought, get off the Internet.

Moon, a hole of light
Through the big top tent up high
Here before and after me
Shinin′ down on me

Moon, tell me if I could
Send up my heart to you?
So, when I die, which I must do
Could it shine down here with you?

Cause my love is mine, all mine
I love, mine, mine, mine
Nothing in the world belongs to me
(Điệp khúc)
Em ơi, từ ngày anh gặp mặt
Tình yêu nở, hạnh phúc tựa là giấc mơ
Cùng em đi qua bao tháng ngày
Đôi ta mãi mãi, tình yêu không phai mờ

(Verse 1)
Từng bước chân, ta cùng nhau bước
Nắng vàng rợp, trái tim hòa mình trong hạnh phúc
Em là ánh sáng, anh mãi yêu thương
Cùng nhau vượt qua, mọi thử thách đời đường

(Pre-chorus)
