His works include the soundtrack for FLCL (Fooly Cooly), the Rozen Maiden series, Mahou Sensei Negima, Shôjo Kakumei Utena, A Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar, Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora, Speed Grapher, Zero no Tsukaima and Asatte no Houkou.
Mitsumune is a native of Fukuoka City in Fukuoka Prefecture and a graduate of Rikkyo University with a degree in business. He started studying music at the age of 4. After graduating from college, he toured music festivals across Japan as a keyboardist for a Marine band, and later as the member of a backing band for musicians such as Yukie Nishimura (西村由紀江). Starting in 1995, he lent his skills to composing animation and movie scores with a full orchestra.
