Easy on Me
Adele Lyrics

That I've been washin' my hands in forever
I know there is hope in these waters
But I can't bring myself to swim
When I am drowning in this silence
Baby, let me in
Go easy on me, baby
I was still a child
Didn't get the chance to
Feel the world around me
I had no time to choose
What I chose to do
So go easy on me
There ain't no room for things to change
When we are both so deeply stuck in our ways
You can't deny how hard I've tried
I changed who I was to put you both first
But now I give up
Go easy on me, baby
I was still a child
Didn't get the chance to
Feel the world around me
Had no time to choose
What I chose to do
So go easy on me
I had good intentions
And the highest hopes
But I know right now
It probably doesn't even show
Go easy on me, baby
I was still a child
I didn't get the chance to
Feel the world around me
I had no time to choose
What I chose to do
So go easy on me
In Adele's song "Easy On Me," she speaks about feeling overwhelmed and trapped in her own life. She talks about washing her hands in a river that has no gold, symbolizing the lack of reward for the effort she has put into her life. She recognizes that there is hope in the water, but she cannot bring herself to swim. She is drowning in the silence that surrounds her and she wants someone to let her in.
Adele then asks someone to "go easy on me, baby." She explains that she was still a child when she was forced to make decisions that affected her life. She didn't have the chance to experience the world around her and make her own choices. She had good intentions and hope for the future, but it doesn't necessarily show right now. She asks for patience and understanding as she tries to navigate her life.
The song shows the complexity of life and the difficulties that come with growing up without proper guidance and support. Adele's plea for help and understanding is relatable to those who have felt stuck in their own lives.
