Gates of Gnomeria is a collection of Andy McKee original songs and two covers. His cover of Björk's Venus as a Boy is a stunning multi-track arrangement of one of her best known songs from her debut. Joined by Bassist Jeff Schmidt on two songs, A Sphere and Dependant Arising, the songs on Gates of Gnomeria as a collection are more laid-back than on Art of Motion and convey larger musical ideas at the same time.

andy mckee says in his digital booklet:
"This song is inspired by the likes of Tolkien,
The Elder Scrolls, Warcraft, and Dungeons and
Dragons. I wanted to tell an aural tale of
some adventurers traveling through caverns
to a deep dark place in the heart of the earth.
Their journey takes them to a subterranean
city of magic ruled by gnomes called
“Gnomeria,” where spells and technologies
have evolved outside of human influence. I
hope you can see it!"

love this song, he didn't try to overuse the "hey look! my guitar has more strings!" he just used the instrument to its best potential.
