Austin has scored over twenty five feature films, most notably the 2009 Sundance hit GRACE, as well as the 2008 Sundance Audience Award winner CAPTAIN ABU RAED. The latter was listed by the LA Times as a contender for the 2009 Academy Awards for 'Best Original Score' and also won Austin the Hollywood Music Award for "Best New Composer." The combined success of those films, along with several others, prompted The Hollywood Reporter to list Austin as one of 15 composers "Primed to take their place on the A-list," as well as a nomination by the International Film Music Critics Association for "Breakout Composer of the Year."
In addition to feature films, Austin has a tremendous passion for the world of game scoring. His first major game score for thatgamecompany's flOw in 2006 earned Austin a British Academy Award nomination and triple nominations at the Game Audio Network Guild awards ("Innovative use of Audio," "Best Interactive Score" and winning for "Rookie of the Year."). Perhaps most notably, his score for thatgamecompany's much lauded 'Journey' (2012) debuted as #1 in iTunes' game soundtrack charts (Grammy 2012 nominated for Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media).
Austin also maintains a busy schedule writing concert music and composing/producing albums. In addition to more traditional chamber and orchestral music, in 2010 he released a meditation album entitled "Sounds of Darkness" using never-before recorded sacred Aztec chants. 2010 also saw the launch of Allogamy, an ambitious blog in collaboration with photographer Andrew Berglund which posts a new photo with a new piece of music for every single day in the year.
Beyond composing, Austin is also a strong advocate for music in the schools, particularly in early education, and as such is a very active memeber on the Board of Directors for Education Through Music - Los Angeles (alongside composers John Debney, Christopher Young, Michael Giacchino, James Dooley and many other music, business and education professionals).

Despite the overall success of the game, Assassin's Creed Syndicate has one of the most submersive music in the whole franchise.

Agreed.

@leolionhunt The reason Ubisoft took a year break, wasn't because of syndicate - it was because they were restructuring and changing many aspects of the series
Connor Mac
@leolionhunt the massive failure of Unity is what caused the break, Syndicate was already under developement when Unity released. Sure it's maybe the least selling one but it is success. It is a better game than Unity on so many levels
leolionhunt
well.....the game wasnt a success at all....in fact it is the least selling in the entire series, and literally caused ubisoft to take a year break with Origin.

While I love this soundtrack, I completely agree. This OST always seemed a bit out of place within the game and offered very little in creating immersion. Assassin's Creed 2 and 4/Freedom Cry did a mind-blowingly fantastic job in that respect, and intentionally mixed indigenous sounds with modern electronic effects, which still resulted in great implementation. Seeing as that technique is missing here, I wonder if that's why this particular OST is an odd one out?

The violins are so calm and the piano gives you chills.
Silas V.
@Yousef Hussain You may be confusing it with the Cellos, the violins are calm but its the deep cellos along with the piano's harsh notes that give it an edge.
Yousef Hussain
should it be the other way around?
the paino being calm and the violins being very chillling because damn those violins are amazingly chilling.
