The self-proclaimed "Raps Desert Saul-ten," Jaesin Stone (also know as "Az … Read Full Bio ↴The self-proclaimed "Raps Desert Saul-ten," Jaesin Stone (also know as "Az Smooth") was able to build on his local sensation status to become a national rap artist using his home town of D.C's go-go-inspired hip-hop as the avenue for his clever vocals and wordplay.
Jaesin Stone was born in Washington, D.C. As a young child the family moved to Maryland when the soon to be rapper was seven years old, Stone was mostly raised in suburban D.C. He had a rough time after his family split before being sent to Phoenix Arizona to attended high school, eventually transferring back to Maryland to finish his last year. The music bug had already bitten him hard, though, and deferring college altogether to follow a recording career.
Stone got his first performance in 2010 with "Hustle Hard Records," thanks to the help of a local artist that was fan and believed in his potential. This landed him in the Unsigned Hype column in Urban Release Magazine the following year. In 2011, Stone alone with a few friends started the label Music Society 33/Unique Rhythm, after being offered several deals by local labels and wanting to build something on their own, and enjoying a string of club hits in the Phoenix area that year. His percussion-driven tracks gave a hard dose of D.C. To your air wave. Influenced by go-go bands like the Northeast Groovers, Chuck Brown, Back Yard and Junk yard. A smart use of the Internet, YouTube and Twitter was also a big factor in his success, as it helped British über-producer and Musscel Beats (known for his work with Hot Diamonds mix tapes) catch wind of the local MC in 2012.
Stone learned from the producer and grow to start producing his own tracks in 2012, witch opened his mind to experiment with new styles and factions of music. After release "Stone" the mixtape that year he was met with an good deal of positive press Despite not being signed to a major label, from A&R review magazine to D.C production headed up by Daryl Clines. After a building a strong loyal fan base he released his first album titled "The Evils" along with its single "Shooting Stars" featuring singer song writer Lala. His ambitious 2013 release "Jaesin Stone: A Tale of to City's" EP introduced by the single "The Beast" which featured Hip-Hop artist BlaZenem and a hard hitting KRS-ONE sample remixing his "Sound of the Police" song. After a great 2013 he released his highly regarded "Independent Hustle" EP with no features and two club singles titled "Can I Live" produced by Kruush and "Fast Lyfe" produced by Thaddeous Shade.
