The lyrics in a nutshell
See your body into the moonlight
Even if I try to cancel
All the pictures into the mind
There's a flashing in my eyes

[Hook]
Don't you see my condition?
The fiction - is gonna run it again
Can't you see now illusions?
Right into your mind

[Chorus]
Déjà vu
I've just been in this place before
Higher on the street
And I know it's my time to go
Calling you, and the search is a mystery
Standing on my feet
It's so hard when I try to be me, woah

Déjà vu
I've just been in this time before
Higher on the beat
And I know it's a place to go
Calling you and the search is a mystery
Standing on my feet
It's so hard when I try to be me, yeah

[Verse 2]
See the future into the present
See my past leaves in the distance
Try to guess now what's going on
And the band begins to play

[Hook]
Don't you see my condition?
The fiction - is gonna run it again
Can't you see now illusions?
Right into your mind

[Chorus]
Déjà vu
I've just been in this place before
Higher on the street
And I know it's my time to go
Calling you, and the search is a mystery
Standing on my feet
It's so hard when I try to be me, woah

Déjà vu
I've just been in this time before
Higher on the beat
And I know it's a place to go
Calling you and the search is a mystery
Standing on my feet
It's so hard when I try to be me, yeah

[Verse 1]
See your body into the moonlight
Even if I try to cancel
All the pictures into the mind
There's a flashing in my eyes

[Hook]
Don’t you see my condition, the fiction
Has gone running again
Can't you see now, illusions
Right into your mind

[Chorus]
Déjà vu
I've just been in this place before
Higher on the street
And I know it's my time to go
Calling you, and the search is a mystery
Standing on my feet
It's so hard when I try to be me, woah

Déjà vu
I've just been in this time before
Higher on the beat
And I know it's a place to go
Calling you and the search is a mystery
Standing on my feet
It's so hard when I try to be me, yeah

She's performing african choreographies and narrating visions of the past. She dances around sugarcane crops, shying away from those Orleans chateaux where they were slaves and by the night as if she were hunted down after escaping from slavery. She reflects freedom through body language and singing. This video is a jewell as she portraits herself very valiant and proud of her african roots whilst she's overcoming historical background! Beautiful woman!!!

One of the best comments I've seen ❤

@Jenny Wakeman you know a lot more about her work and make a convincing case. I think her later work contains more independent elements from him, she seems to embrace motherhood and her female identity as a source of power more so perhaps like most people it's work in progress.

@Cookie Ginger I see what you mean, and I fully agree. Plus her 1st album Dangerously in Love was basically dedicated to Jay-Z. She was dating him at the time when she made that album. And she was 18 while he was 30 when they met, then dated when she was 19, and the album came out when she was 21, so there was already a power dynamic from the very beginning. It’s kind of like he groomed her to basically worship him b/c even though she’s legally an adult she was still a teenager, your brain doesn’t stop developing until you’re 25. And Jay-Z is not a dancer, so I don’t expect him to dance in Deja Vu, but idk maybe she could’ve had a male dance partner while Jay-Z raps in the background or just have an audio of him rapping, BUT there have been people who have mentioned how controlling and jealous he is of other men being around her.

Even Sean Paul came out, saying that he couldn’t be in the same room as Beyoncé for the music video Baby Boy because of Jay-Z. And if you watch the video, you’ll notice they’re never around each other AT ALL, they’re always in separate scenes. Same with her other video Mine ft. Drake, separate scenes, I'm not sure of the reason for that one though but it does seem weird.

Also if you notice she has SO MANY music videos ft. Jay-Z. Upgrade, Deja Vu, Crazy in Love, Drunk in Love, Partition (even in that song some of the lyrics are "I just wanna be the girl you like" and in Yoncé (he's not in it) but she says "Boy this all for you, just walk my way". She has ALWAYS worshipped that man. He doesn't even feature her in his music videos except for Bonnie & Clyde which is still her singing about her loyalty to him. It's pretty obvious she loves him more than he loves her.

@alex roman oh so your sources of beyoncé taking credits from other artists is some blogger on youtube. did you even saw how long her list of credits are? she even gave credits to people tweets that she turned into lyrics. how y’all can say she doesn’t give credits? it’s so weird at this point like it’s literally in front of you but y’all will choose to believe a blogger who always talk everything but nothing. yikes 💀💀
