The album contains the hit single "Maria", which is Blondie's third song to hit number one on UK charts, as well as the singles "Nothing Is Real But The Girl" and "No Exit.”
The album features a variety of different genres, including pop, rock, reggae and hip-hop. The demos for the album were produced by Mike Chapman, who also produced Blondie's Parallel Lines, Eat To The Beat, Autoamerican and The Hunter, but production was later passed on to Craig Leon, who has also worked with the band before on their first record, Blondie. Clem Burke, Debbie Harry, Chris Stein and Jimmy Destri wrote/played on the album and Blondie's original bass player Gary Valentine helped write a few songs. Nigel Harrison and Frank Infante were not involved in this project and were replaced by Leigh Fox and Paul Carbonara moving forward.
No Exit hit number 3 on UK album charts and had a 13 month promotional tour in Europe, North America and Oceania.
