Judge Not
by Bob Marley & The Wailers

Don't you look at me so smug
And say I'm going bad.
Who are you to judge me
And the life that I live?
I know that I'm not perfect
And that I don't claim to be.
So before you point your fingers,
Be sure your hands are clean.

Judge not
Before you judge yourself.
Judge not
If you're not ready for judgement. Woah oh oh!

The road of life is rocking
And you may stumble too.
So while you talk about me,
Someone else is judging you.

Judge not
Before you judge yourself.
Judge not
If you're not ready for judgement. Woah oh oh!

The road of life is rocky
And you may stumble too.
So while you talk about me
Someone else is judging you,
Someone else is judging you,
Someone else is judging you,
Someone else is judging you,
Someone else is judging you.

Just a quick break from our New York hardcore survey to remember Bob Marley. He was born on February 6, 1945 in Jamaica.
He is considered by many to be THE musical artist of the 20th century. Most of us in America do not know that worldwide he was much more popular than he was here, where reggae was competing with many other genres, such as rock, disco and country. In other countries reggae reigned supreme.
By 1980 Bob was as big a star as anyone in popular music. In the fall of that year he returned to America to begin a tour that was to include stops with his close friend Stevie Wonder. But after only five shows in September Marley collapsed while jogging in New York's Central Park. The melanoma cancer on his foot which had been diagnosed in 1977 had spread to his lungs and brain. The last show of his life took place in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania on September 23, 1980 and he passed in Miami, Florida on May 11, 1981 at age 36.
Before he joined the Wailers he cut four solo songs on Beverley's label. Judge Not was the song that introduced the world to this extraordinary talent. Recorded around February, 1962 when Bob was 17 years old. Straight up ska.

Judge not if you're not ready for judgement
The road of life is rocking
And you may stumble too.
So while you talk about me,
someone else is judging you
CHORUS
The road of life is rocky
And you may stumble too.
So while you talk about me
Someone else is judging you,
