Number 1 Angel is a mixtape by English singer and songwriter Charli XCX, released on March 10th, 2017 by Asylum Records. The mixtape contains ten tracks, and was created in Los Angeles as a collaboration with producer A. G. Cook. When asked why she released a free mixtape, Charli explained that she did it for her fans who mostly use streaming services and listen for free anyway. It was also a way of her collaborating with artists and releasing something quickly without the pressure of creating a studio album.

TECHNOVINTAGE her choosing to call something a mixtape vs album shouldn’t take away from the music itself. She did it to work around the label caring about the roll-out of the project if she called it an “album” which has a more commercial connotation

this was me and my bff song, we used to play it in her bedroom and we would sing it with a whole lot of attitude. she passed away two years ago and I still can't sing/listen to her verse without start sobbing intensively. I miss her so much.
