Leskiw eventually tired of touring and left the band before the name change and signing to Edmonton, Alberta label; Stony Plain Records. Label boss Holger Petersen financed a full-length album at Mushroom Studios in Vancouver, the same studio as era legends Heart, Chilliwack, and Doucette, and hired producer Keith Stein whose credits include Trooper, Prism, and Loverboy. Their 1979 debut album lineup was Bill Wallace, Larry Pink, Marc La France, and Hermann Fruhm, and post-recording added guitarist Bob Deutscher.
The appropriately titled lead-off "Running Start" was released as a 7" single and would turn out to be their biggest hit, earning a number one in Guatemala. The song reached as high as #17 on local and regional radio stations in Western Canada while peaking at #64 on the National RPM chart. They toured extensively that year, opening for Burton Cummings, Prism, Goddo, Doucette, and Streetheart.
Crowcuss recorded the 1980 follow-up Starting To Show in Winnipeg but shortly thereafter disbanded and moved on to other projects. The most notable being Marc La France, heard on both Crowcuss albums playing drums with lead vocals, who went on to record with superstars Carly Simon, David Lee Roth, Cher, Mötley Crüe, Bachman & Turner, Loverboy, Glass Tiger, Scorpions, and Alice Cooper.
