It was released by Daft Life under exclusive license to Columbia Records on May 17, 2013 in Australia, May 20, 2013 in the United Kingdom and on May 21, 2013 in the United States. Work started on the record concurrently with the Tron: Legacy score, without a clear plan as to what its structure would be. Shortly after Daft Punk signed with Columbia, a gradual promotional rollout began for the album including billboards, television advertising and a web series.
Random Access Memories pays tribute to the late 1970s and early 80s era of music in the United States, particularly the sound of Los Angeles recordings of the period. Daft Punk recorded the album largely using live instrumentation with session musicians, and limited the use of electronics to drum machines, a modular synthesizer and vintage vocoders. The album also features collaborations with Panda Bear, Julian Casablancas, Todd Edwards, DJ Falcon, Chilly Gonzales, Giorgio Moroder, Nile Rodgers, Paul Williams and Pharrell Williams. Critical reception to the album has generally been positive.
This production won Grammy's Album of the Year in 2013, Record for the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Get Lucky", Best Dance/Electro Album & Best Engineered Album (non-classical).

Let the music in tonight
(Just turn on the music)
Let the music of your life
(Give life back to music)
Let the music in tonight

Let the music of your life

Two very talented French musicians who did it their way, please listen to Random Access Memories.
They didn’t sample Chic, they co-wrote the songs with Niles Rodgers and had him play on them.
They didn’t particularly copy Pink Floyd, yet, you sense them.
They acknowledge Giorgio Moroder one of the coolest musicians to ever walk the planet and changed dance music forever.
They called Paul Williams who wrote “Just an Old Fashioned Love Song “Evergreen” and “Rainy days and Mondays” amongst a few more classic pop gems to work with them.
These guys had respect for their elders and the elders rewarded them with the Grammy.
My fav. Intro/Chorus of 80’s hair metal surrounded by Chic disco.
Oh and they were all about vinyl and analog as much as digital.
