Deviations Project was formed in 2006 by composer Dave Williams and violinist Oliver Lewis in the UK. Their debut album is "Deviations Project." Their music is a blend of electronic based orchestration and the simple & pure tones of the violin. They are not Bluegrass; which apparently seems to be a confusion within Last.fm. If you try to sample Deviations Project and hear Bluegrass; please disregard while their tech support resolve the confusion. For their holiday album "Adeste Fiddles" both of their names have been added to help distance themselves from the Bluegrass confusion. Thank you.
Adeste Fiddles is an achingly beautiful interpretation of some of the most wonderful Christmas compositions in the world; a stirring combination of virtuosic instrumentation and lush, futuristic arrangements. Soaring melodies are performed by international violin virtuoso Oliver Lewis with a jaw-dropping sonic backdrop provided by renowned producer Dave Williams.
The electronic presence in Deviations Project compliments the styles and compositions perfectly, never once overshadowing the splendor and emotion that weeps from Oliver’s violin. If anything it acts to enhance the compositions, adding power and texture.
Once described as Paganini meets Royksopp, Deviations is an incredible mix of “State of the Art” electronic computer technology and the pure, inspiring tones of the acoustic classical violin. Light hearted yet vibrant, Deviations’ self titled debut is essential for music enthusiasts. This album revives standards and invigorates fresh new compositions, creating instant classics. Hailed by the New Zealand media as “…the fastest fiddler in the west…” Oliver’s “hyper active bow shredding” style will dazzle you with the unparalleled panache of a true virtuoso.
Huge thanks to “Peter Biddulph Violins” for their generous loan of the exquisite Guarnerius del Gesu - 1728 - violin, played with great pleasure on this album!
Oliver Lewis is a D'Addario Artist and uses their strings.
