Tomorrow Tomorrow
Elliott Smith Lyrics

Everybody knows which way you go straight to over no one
Wants to see you inside of me straight to over I heard the
Hammer at the lock say you're deaf and dumb and done give
Yourself another talk this time make it sound like someone the

Noise is coming out, and if it's not out now, then tomorrow
Tomorrow they took your life apart and called you failures art
They were wrong though they wont know 'til tomorrow I got
Static in my head the reflected sound of everything tried to go

To where it led but it didn't lead to anything the noise is
Coming out, and if it's not out now, I know it's just about to
Drown tomorrow out

Everybody knows

Straight to over
No one wants to see
You inside of me
Straight to over

I heard the hammer at the lock
Say you're deaf and dumb and done
Give yourself another talk
This time make it sound like someone
The noise is coming out
And if it's not out now
Then tomorrow, tomorrow

They took your life apart
And called your failures art
They were wrong, though
They won't know till tomorrow

I got static in my head
The reflected sound of everything
Tried to go to where it led
But it didn't lead to anything
The noise is coming out
And if it's not out now
I know it's just about
To drown tomorrow out

Elliott Smith has such a knack for creating a sense of stillness and tranquility along side panic. This song is such a strange dichotomy of feelings. It reminds me of an anxiety attack and letting go at the same time. I love this song.

I'm not really certain that there is anything that stands up to this standard, maybe some of the early writers going back a few decades ago. Elliott was in a class of songwriters which he made his own, Dylan, Guthrie, Young, plenty of good ones too numerous to mention, but this guy, forget about about it...

@dean b They coexist in my head as "man this makes me more depressed but this sure is the culture I love to surround myself with"!

i love how the song starts out so slow and then hurries to a quick, frantic pace towards of the end.

I got static in my head, the reflected sound of everything. Tried to go to where it lead but it didn't lead to anything...

One of my all time favorite songs - pure masterpiece

Hostile Fork

People had been suggesting Elliott to me for a long time, like "hey, you should check this out, seems up your alley". I'm not really in the market for new music but among the songs that did stick with me is this one, which I particularly appreciate on headphones. Well done, Elliott.
