He was also named number five in Time magazine's list of "The 10 Best Electric Guitar Players" in 2009.
In the mid-1960s Clapton left the Yardbirds to play with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers. Immediately after leaving Mayall, Clapton formed the power trio Cream with drummer Ginger Baker and bassist Jack Bruce, in which Clapton played sustained blues improvisations and "arty, blues-based psychedelic pop". After Cream broke up, he formed blues rock band Blind Faith with Baker, Steve Winwood, and Ric Grech. Clapton's solo career began in the 1970s, where his work bore the influence of the mellow style of J. J. Cale and the reggae of Bob Marley. His version of Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff" helped reggae reach a mass market. Two of his most popular recordings were "Layla", recorded with Derek and the Dominos; and Robert Johnson's "Crossroads", recorded with Cream. Following the death of his son Conor in 1991, Clapton's grief was expressed in the song "Tears in Heaven", which was featured on his Unplugged album.
Clapton has been the recipient of 18 Grammy Awards, and the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music. In 2004 he was awarded a CBE at Buckingham Palace for services to music. He has received four Ivor Novello Awards from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors, including the Lifetime Achievement Award. In his solo career, Clapton has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling musicians of all time. In 1998, Clapton, a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, founded the Crossroads Centre on Antigua, a medical facility for recovering substance abusers.

02 Eric Clapton - Before You Accuse Me Lyrics from the Album - 1992 - Eric Clapton - Unplugged
Before you accuse me,
Take a look at yourself
Before you accuse me,
Take a look at yourself
You say I've been spending my money on other women
You've been taking money from someone else
I called your mama
'bout three or four nights ago
I called your mama
'bout three or four nights ago
Well your Mama said "Son"
"Don't call my daughter no more"
Before you accuse me,
Take a look at yourself
Before you accuse me,
Take a look at yourself
You say I've been spending my money on other women
You've been taking money from someone else
Musical Interlude
Come on back home baby,
Try my love one more time
Come on back home baby,
Try my love one more time
You not things donโt go to suit you
I think Iโll lose my mind
Before you accuse me,
Take a look at yourself
Before you accuse me,
Take a look at yourself
You say I've been spending my money on other women
You've been taking money from someone else

04 Eric Clapton - Tears In Heaven Lyrics from the Album - 1992 - Eric Clapton - Unplugged
Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong
And carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven
Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven
I'll find my way
Through night and day
'Cause I know I just can't stay
Here in heaven
Time can bring you down
Time can bend your knees
Time can break your heart
Have you begging please
Begging please
Musical Interlude
Beyond the door
There's peace, I'm sure
And I know there'll be no more
Tears in heaven
Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Would you be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong
And carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven

05 Eric Clapton - Lonely Stranger Lyrics from the Album - 1992 - Eric Clapton - Unplugged
I must be
Invisible
No one knows me
I have crawled down dead-end streets
On my hands and knees
I was born
With a ragin' thirst
Hunger to be free
But I've learned through the years
Don't encourage me
'Cause I'm a lonely stranger here
Well beyond my day
And I don't know what's goin' on
I'll be on my way
Yes, I will
(I'll be on my way)
Yes, I will
Yes, I will
(I'll be on my way)
When I walk,
Stay behind
Don't get close to me
'Cause it's sure to end in tears
So just let me be
Some will say
That I'm no good
Maybe I agree
Take a look, then walk away
That's all right with me
'Cause I'm a lonely stranger here
Well beyond my day
And I don't know what's goin' on
So I'll be on my way
Yes, I will
(I'll be on my way)
Yes, I will
(I'll be on my way)
Yes, I will
(I'll be on my way)
Yes, I will
(I'll be on my way)
Yes, I will
(I'll be on my way)
(I'll be on my way)

06 Eric Clapton - Nobody Knows You When You're Down & Out Lyrics from the Album - 1992 - Eric Clapton - Unplugged
Once I lived the life of a millionaire,
Spent all my money,
Didnโt have any care.
Took all my friends out for a good time,
Bought bootleg liquor, champagne and wine.
Then I began to fall so low,
Lost all my good friends, and nowhere to go.
I get my hands on a dollar again,
Iโll hang on to it till that old eagle grins.
Because nobody knows you
When you're down and out.
In your pocket, not one penny,
And as for friends, you don't have any.
When you get back up on your feet again,
Everybody wants to be your long-lost friend.
I said it's strange, without any doubt,
Nobody knows you when you're down and out.
Musical Interlude
Because nobody knows you
When you're down and out.
In your pocket, not one penny,
And as for friends, you don't have any.
When you get back on your feet again,
Everybody wants to be your long-lost friend.
I said it's strange, without any doubt
Nobody knows you,
Nobody knows you,
Nobody knows you when you're down and out.
Thank You

07 Eric Clapton - Layla Lyrics from the Album - 1992 - Eric Clapton - Unplugged
See if you can spot this one
What will you do when you get lonely
No one waiting by your side
You've been running hiding much too long
You know it's just your foolish pride
Layla
Got me on my knees
Layla
Begging darling please
Layla
Darling won't you ease my worried mind
Tried to give you consolation
Your old man had let you down
Like a fool I fell in love with you
You turned my whole world upside down,
Layla
Got me on my knees
Layla
Begging darling please
Layla
Darling won't you ease my worried mind
Make the best of the situation
'Fore I finally go insane
Please don't say we'll never find a way
Tell me all my love's in vain
Layla
Got me on my knees
Layla
I'm begging darling please
Layla
Darling won't you ease my worried mind
Layla
Got me on my knees
Layla
Begging darling please
Layla
Darling won't you ease my worried mind
Musical Interlude
Layla
Got me on my knees
Layla
Begging darling please
Layla
Darling won't you ease my worried mind
Layla
Got me on my knees
Layla
Begging darling please
Layla
Darling won't you ease my worried mind
Thank you

08 Eric Clapton - Running On Faith Lyrics from the Album - 1992 - Eric Clapton - Unplugged
Running On Faith
123
Lately I've been running on faith
What else can a poor boy do
But my world will be right
Love comes over you
Lately I've been talking in my sleep
Can't imagine what I'd have to say
Except my world will be right
Love comes back your way
I've always been
One to take each and every day
Seems like by now
I'd find a love who'd care,
Care just for me
And we go running on faith
All of our dreams will come true
And our world will be right
Love comes over me and you
Musical Interlude
Well, I've always been
One to take each and every day
Seems like by now
I'd find a love who would care
In just for me
Then we'd go running on faith
All of our dreams would come true
And our world will be right
Love comes over me and you,
Yes it would
Love comes over you
Loves come over you
Loves have come over you
(love comes over you)
All of our dreams will come true (love comes over you)
Love comes over you (love comes over you)
All of our dreams will come true (love comes over you)
When love, when love comes over you (love comes over you)
When all of the dreams will come true (love comes over you)
When love comes over you (love comes over you)
When love comes over you (love comes over you)
(Love comes over you)
Love comes over you

09 Eric Clapton - Walkin' Blues Lyrics from the Album - 1992 - Eric Clapton - Unplugged
Woke up this morning
Feel 'round for my shoes,
You know 'bout that babe
Had them old walkin' blues.
Woke up this morning
I feel 'round for my shoes,
You know 'bout that babe
Lord, I had them old walkin' blues.
Leavin' this morning
I had to go ride the blinds.
I've been mistreated
Don't mind dying.
This morning
I had to go ride the blinds,
I've been mistreated
Lord, I don't mind dying.
Musical Interlude
People tell me
Walkin' blues ain't bad
Worst old feeling
I most ever had.
People tell me
Your walkin' blues ain't bad
Well it's the worst old feeling
Lord, I most ever had.

Where'd you stay last night

Come home this morning,
Clothes don't fit you right
