Dog Days Are Over
Florence + the Machine Lyrics
Happiness, hit her like a train on a track
Coming towards her, stuck still no turning back
She hid around corners and she hid under beds
She killed it with kisses and from it she fled
With every bubble she sank with a drink
And washed it away down the kitchen sink
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
The horses are coming so you better run
Run fast for your mother run fast for your father
Run for your children for your sisters and brothers
Leave all your love and your longing behind you
Can't carry it with you if you want to survive
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
Can't you hear the horses
'Cause here they come
And I never wanted anything from you
Except everything you had
And what was left after that too, oh
Happiness hit her like a bullet in the back
Struck from a great height
By someone who should know better than that
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
Can you hear the horses
'Cause here they come
Run fast for your mother and fast for your father
Run for your children for your sisters and brothers
Leave all your love and your loving behind you
Can't carry it with you if you want to survive
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
Can you hear the horses
'Cause here they come
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
Can you hear the horses
'Cause here they come
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
The horses are coming
So you better run

@Harlow Marchand “Ave Maria, gratia plena
Dominus tecum
benedicta tu in mulieribus,
et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Jesus.
Sancta Maria mater Dei,
ora pro nobis peccatoribus,
nunc et in hora mortis nostrae.
Amen.”

I just got out of a two-year rut. I never knew there'd be a light at the end of the tunnel for me. My heart's proper heavy for people still dealing with what I dealt with. Because I recognise every aspect of it to the point where I can spot that someone is having the same issue from a mile away.
For the past two years my mental health was the worst. I'd sit in my room literally laughing and then crying like The Joker because things were so comically bad.
And I came to a conclusion. I hate my life, i'm suffering everyday, and one of two things will happen:
- I'll change it
- I'll end it
On a seesaw of changing it and ending it - Ending it was weighing on me far more. I more or less made the final decision. The only thing that kept me in the game was my family - for no other reason other than not wanting to ruin their lives.
I'd be dead soon if something hadn't changed. I already made that decision by the 29th of September.
I wrote a plan on how i'd start my morning. My method of suicide. Where I'd be. What the time is. And what the weather was like (Sunny, so that things seem less depressing)
I would book at the Premiere Inn. And spend my day eating out at at a fancy restaurant, alone. Walk about in London and enjoy the scenery for one last time. Do some pampering, acupuncture, get some hot rocks on my back. And after a long day of self care. I come back to the hotel, wind down. Get on the bed and swallow a bunch of pills to sleep. Best case, overdose in my sleep.
And you didn't know anything. This was me from November of 2018 until September of 2020.
I wish I could tell you that getting over your mental illness is gonna be easy. it isn't. Nothing worthwhile is easy. But there's a light at the end of your dark, dark tunnel. And like me - you ain't gonna see it coming.
I used to listen to this song thinking shit will never end. Now I listen and smile.
