Flughand's musical journey began as a fan, initially drawn to uptempo dance and electronic music, including artists such as The Chemical Brothers, Jungle Brothers, and Fatboy Slim. However, in the mid-90s, he had a hip-hop awakening that led him to explore the world of beat-making and downtempo beats. He started DJing, scratching, and developing a passion for creating his own productions.
Using an MPC 500, Flughand began his journey as a producer. After two years, he transitioned to using NI Maschine, a platform he continues to employ after nearly 11 years.
In 2013, Flughand released his first album titled "F.Stop." However, it was his 2016 album "EXPEDITion Vol. 7: Moonloops" that gained significant attention, amassing hundreds of thousands of listeners. Since then, he has released three more albums, further solidifying his presence in the music scene.
When creating beats, Flughand approaches each session without a specific preconceived idea. Instead, he allows himself to embark on a new and unpredictable journey, serving as an escape from his surroundings. With the lights dimmed and his focus solely on the Maschine, Flughand becomes fully immersed in the beat-making process.
For Flughand, creativity lies in being present during the art creation, rather than imposing predetermined directions. His music adopts a "go with the flow" mentality, allowing listeners to explore and interpret the compositions without the guidance of vocal narratives.
In addition to sampling instruments and manipulating them to create unique sounds, Flughand emphasizes the importance of the mixing process in his productions. The mixing is not only a final touch but an integral part of the entire production journey, from inception to completion.
Flughand acknowledges the prevalence of commercial monotony within the lo-fi scene. While it is now easier and faster to produce such music, he highlights the significance of individual taste and the ability to discern the difference between artists who invest significant effort into their sound and those who do not.
