With winning melodies inserted in songs fully penned by the band, their music draws inspiration from everyday street life and experiences, as well as by emotions and personal feelings most young people can relate to.Their first album "Gemelli DiVersi " was released in 1998. Strano, Grido, Thema and THG immediately stood out in the sea of new acts. They attracted attention with the first single off the album, "Un attimo ancora", which became a rather unprecedented radio hit.
The extensive tour in support of the album had them take the stage all over Italy, allowing the band to establish themselves also as a live act, which they now are at their best. Gemelli DiVersi sold over 100,000 copies – quite an achievement for a new band.
Also the same year, Gemelli DiVersi served as Articolo 31 opening act during the “Nessuno” tour, thus reaching an even larger audience. In 2000 they released their second album,
"4 x 4". The success of the singles "Musica" and “Chi sei adesso”, together with the warm support from a growing number of fans, helped the album duplicate and even surpass the success of its predecessor with over 100,000 copies sold.
The same year, Eros Ramazzotti invited Gemelli DiVersi to join him as opening act on his stadium tour. The young band embarked on a challenging and exciting live experience that proved them perfectly capable of handling a vast and demanding audience. In 2002 their third, stunningly successful album "Fuego" finally propelled the band into national stardom. Songs like “Tu no”, “Falsi Eroi” (featuring legendary session musician Maurizio Solieri on guitar) and “Mary”, with which they set controversial and thorny issues to music, make up an album which soon went double platinum and earned Gemelli DiVersi a series of awards, including Best Italian Act at the 2003 MTV Europe Music Awards. The tour that followed saw the band play over 70 gigs in Italy as well as all the legs of Festivalbar. In 2004 they released their fourth album, "Reality Show". The great success of the video trilogy inspired by Back To The Future, involving the singles “Un Altro Ballo”, “Prima o poi” and “Fotoricordo”, got them so close to the MTV world that in 2005 the channel asked them to host two editions of the tv show “Pimp My Wheels”. On July 2, 2005 the band were invited to perform “Un Altro Ballo” and “Mary” on the prestigious Live 8 stage at the Circus Maximus in Rome.In 2006 they won the TRL Award as Best “riempipazza” (crowd gatherers), which confirmed their status of viewers’ favourites.
At the end of 2006 they won the award for Best Italian Band at the Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards. “Boom” is their fifth album, to be released on June 8, 2007.Like their previous albums, it contains songs fully written and arranged by Gemelli DiVersi.
The first single off the record, “Istruzioni Per l’(Ill)uso”, expresses harsh criticism towards the current television world and the values it purports. The track list features heavily ironical songs like “BBoy-BBand” or deeply emotional compositions like “Icaro”, “A 12 Km (da casa)” and “Cattive Compagnie”.The song “Ancora Un Pò’” was also included in the soundtrack of the very successful film Notte Prima Degli Esami – OGGI.
