The split left guitarist Holden Simpson, bassist Kyle Anthony and drummer Nick Talley without an outlet, so the three regrouped and began work on a new set of material. They started brainstorming and hashing out ideas officially in the spring of 2011 and played their first show in October of that year.
Landing somewhere between psychedelic rock and outright pop, the band have built a sound well versed in the vocabulary of the 60’s and 70’s. However, while the guys in Gentleman Savage pay tribute to the bands of yore, they also bring a smart pop sensibility to their song writing, layering in strong vocal hooks and guitar riffs with a steady, confident beat on which they build their sound. The band elegantly weaves rolling bass grooves accented by jangling guitars, 3 part harmonies, swirling organs and electric pianos, to build a sound that is not only captivating, but beautifully haunting as well. During the winter of 2011/12 the band began work on their first EP at Westend Studios in Kansas City, and released the Open Eyes E.P. in October of 2012. The group quickly began work on a follow-up 7" to be released some time in the spring of 2013.
