The Ark
by Gerry Rafferty

See the dark night has come down on us
The world is livin' in its dream
But now we know that we can wake up from this sleep
And set out on the journey
Find a ship to take us on the way.

The time has come to trust that guiding light
And leavin' all the rest behind
We'll take the road that leads down to the waterside
And set out on the journey
Find a ship to take us on the way.

And we'll sail out on the water
Yes we'll feel the seas roll
Yes we'll meet out on the water
Where are all strangers are known.

If you travel blindly, if you fall
The truth is there to set you free
And when your heart can see just one thing in this life
We'll set out on the journey
Find a ship to take us on the way.

And we'll sail out on the water
Yes we'll feel the seas roll
Yes we'll meet out on the water
Where are all strangers are known.

See the dark night has come down on us
The world is livin' in its dream
But now we know that we can wake up from this sleep
And set out on the journey
Find a ship to take us on the way.

And we'll sail out on the water
Yes we'll feel the seas roll
Yes we'll meet out on the water
Where are all strangers are known.

Anybody here in 2019...October?.....one of the greatest albums of my lifetime......'whatevers written in you heart' people......

Devin Crum

One of the greatest albums of ANYONE'S lifetime! Just so incredible. Gerry was the Scottish Beatles in my eyes. He has written the catchiest, most heartwarming songs ever, no argument.

Yes, my first car that had a tape deck back in 77 and I was a big fan of 'Home & Dry' so naturally my first cassette ever was 'City to City'. Crazy thing is that for some reason I didn't care for the way 'The Ark' started for whatever reason so I would always fast forward it. Same with the CD when I got it. Was like that for decades and then about 10 years ago, my wife was going through a bit of a hard time and for whatever reason I didn't skip 'The Ark' and she found it so soothing and helpful that she would listen to it and the rest of the album constantly. Actually listening to it myself for the first time really brought home to me how great a song it is. A bit ridiculous that it took me so long to find that out.

I hear you David. Iยดm 50 years old and was introduced to Gerry Rafferty by my dad, when I was a young boy. Today "City to City" is on the turntable at least once a month.

Completely understandable, Gerry was more than just a name......without him the world is a lesser place !

Michael Kennedy

Michael Gorman

You must be in possession of a soul then :)
