Many of the songs are inspired by the experience of invisible disability (medical conditions in which the sufferer looks normal from the outside) and its associated loss, anger, frustration, and later realism, acceptance and determination to keep going ‘while I still can’.
The album is based on singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Malcolm’s experiences of hypermobility type Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

“Didn’t you know that I could fly, at least until I hit the ground?
Didn’t you see me waving, when I went past your window?
Didn’t you know that I could fly? I found out on the way down
Please forgive the intrusion
As I go down past your window
Flying fast, falling faster. I didn’t know that I could fly until I hit the ground
While I still can. While I still can.”

There’s a storm forgotten, there’s a broken wave
There’s a silver sign by the edge of the grave
Don’t leave me, don’t leave me alone
Frail hurricane, blow me away, frail hurricane, blow me away, blow me away.”
