Miss World
Hole Lyrics

I am the girl you know, can't look you in the eye
I am the girl you know, so sick I cannot try
And I am the one you want, can't look you in the eye
I am the girl, you know I lie, I lie and lie

I'm miss world, somebody kill me
Kill me pills
No one cares, my friends
My friend

I'm miss world, watch me break and watch me burn
No one is listening, my friend
Now I've made my bed, I'll lie in it
I've made my bed, I'll die in it
I've made my bed, I'll lie in it
I've made my bed, I'll die in it

Cute girls watch when I eat ether
Suck me under
Maybe forever, my friend

Now I've made my bed, I'll lie in it
I've made my bed, I'll die in it
I've made my bed, I'll cry in it
I've made my bed, I'll lie in it
I've made my bed, I'll lie in it
I've made my bed, I'll lie in it
I've made my bed, I'll lie in it
I've made my bed, I'll lie in it, my friend
I am the girl you know, can't look you in the eye

@Nathalie Where have you gotten such misinformation?

Here is a radio interview with Charles R. Cross, the author of Heavier Than Heaven: A Biography of Kurt Cobain.

- Radio Host: When it comes to Kurt suicide there is obviously a lot of conspiracy theories still out there about him being murdered, Courtney Love being involved at some point. What are your thoughts on that?

- Charles R. Cross: There is absolutely nothing to that. I extensively research Kurt's suicide. He clearly took his own life. There is no evidence whatsoever of anything else. I think those topics keep coming up, and people talk about it, and it ends up being in the news. Somebody is trying to sell a book on conspiracy theories. Part of it also is we just simply don't want to blame Kurt because of our own personal relationship with him. I think that what's true is that Kurt took his own life, and there is absolutely no evidence otherwise.

LET’s GET SOME FACTS STRAIGHT:

Kurt Cobain didn’t wrote ANYTHING on Live Through This and this FACT has been reported by all of the other members of the band and the album producers:

Sean Slade: “We witnessed “Asking for It” from when it didn’t exist to when it got finished. It was fascinating. There was a certain magic going on.”

Paul Q. Kolderie: “I always bring that up whenever people say “Kurt wrote the songs” — I can say he didn’t because I watched it happen.”

Eric Erlandson: “He didn’t know any of the songs, there were drugs involved, and Courtney’s like, “Change something on this.” Mainly just to get some harmonies, I guess. Not anything about the writing of the songs, not anything with even the vocal melodies. Everything was already done. He was going in there mumbling harmonies over a couple songs. Those things were not used on the album; they turned up in a mix later. You can hear him on top of whatever song that was — I think “Softer, Softest” — but he was never actually involved.”

Sean Slade: “I had one conversation with Kurt when we were mixing it. Courtney called and said, “Kurt wants to talk to you.” And I remember looking at Paul and Paul giving me a look like, “You’re gonna do this one.” I got on the phone and Kurt starts going, “I got these mixes, and here’s what you gotta do — you gotta make the snare sound huge, and you gotta double all of Courtney’s vocals.” And I said, “Sorry, Kurt, but we’re not gonna do that. That’s not the album we are making here, that’s not the approach we’re taking.” What Kurt was saying, basically, was make it sound like my album, make it sound like Nevermind. And I told him, straight up, no way, we’re not going to do that. I probably pissed him off, but I didn’t care.”

People need to accept the fact that Courtney has done an album as good as any of Nirvana’s records without Kurt’s help.

@Jo Grignard Yeah, the full story as far as I can recall was that while Nirvana were on tour in Europe so were the Smashing Pumpkins, Courtney was at home in the US and was supposed to fly to Milan to see Kurt and the band, instead she flew to London where the Pumpkins were playing.

Kurt phoned home to Seattle and the babysitter said "Courtney left two days ago, she should be in Europe", Kurt asked around and someone who knew said she was in London with her ex, Billy Corgan. This is when Nirvana's gigs went from being happy and focused to Kurt having tantrums on stage and leaving shows early - you can see all this stuff by watching the shows on YouTube - he really has a meltdown, plays the songs drunk, insults the crowd, insults the host and storms off stage about two songs into a 15 song set.

At the beginning of the European tour Kurt was in high spirits, he would leave the band's hotels to speak to fans (there are pictures of him happily dancing with fans on the streets of Italy and Belgium), he would throw beers out of the hotel window to the fans, his shows were fucking ace! and he was on top of the world then after Milan it changed and he started being really moody and arguing with the audience and basically being a prick - these videos are on YouTube too.

By Nirvana's last gig in Italy at Rome someone had told Courtney she had been sprung and so she flew from London to Rome where Kurt had it out with her, we don't know what happened but we do know it was Kurt's first suicide attempt, he drank a bunch of champagne and dropped a bunch of pills while Courtney was asleep.

He survived but the band had to cancel two shows and make excuses. Krist and Dave did not know why Kurt was hospitalised, they just thought it was Kurt and his drugs.

The band flew to Munich in Germany and played the last ever Nirvana gig, a gig where Kurt was said to look like "a man with no soul", he played the gig, didn't argue, didn't fight, but as soon as the gig was over he told Krist and Dave the band were over and he was going home.

The label cancelled the rest of the tour while Krist and Dave were seriously pissed at him. Kurt flew home to Seattle after promising Courtney and his mother that he would enter rehab but no sooner than entering rehab he escaped it and then spent three weeks playing hide and seek with his family up and down the west coast of the US between Seattle, Portland and Los Angeles before being found dead in the store room above his garage.

I don't believe Courtney killed him, but she may as well have pulled the trigger because whatever happened in Europe between them ripped out his heart and killed him as a person.

BTW, this is a rough jist of what happened off the top of my head, because the various books and biographies I read about it were more than 20 years ago. I read these books when I was a teen in the late 90's so a lot of my "facts" above will be erroneous in regards to dates, times, etc, but they are a rough idea of Kurt's last few weeks in Europe, his inexplicable change from "I'm on top of the world" to "I want to die" and then his death.

I think that people are finally accepting that Live Through This is an absolute classic.

Luke Hansen

I accept that

As You Walk

A classic long-lost Kurt Cobain/Nirvana album.

Bella Bear

@chicken in translation the reality is this it's hard to know who helped on those albums because Courtney never thanks anyone. I would say the founding members of hole had more input on those other albums all I know is there only album to ever have real success can be attributed to two people and that's Kurt and billy corgan. Courtney's solo album was a huge flop and that was the only album she wrote herself with no other help so that should give you enough insight to see what's going on.

Hope so.

I have actually been brought to Courtney's music by watching conspiracy videos about how people think she killed Kurt.  Listening to her music and seeing her in interviews made me realize why Kurt loved her and always defended her.  It shows how genuine Kurt was by him being drawn to such a strong female partner and also very musically talented like him. He wasn't worried about his girlfriend/wife getting attention and stealing his thunder.  He wanted her to do well and for her band to be successful.  So many people think she kind of leached onto him when he started to get famous, but I do think they were best friends and equally drawn to one another.  I watched a scene in Montage of Heck where Kurt sits on a bed in a dress with lip stick on while lip-syncing to Courtney reading a letter trashing her from one of Kurt's fans who hated Courtney.  That alone shows how unique a connection they had and how they were great friends who really got each other.  I don't think there was anyone out there at the time (or even now) as warped, into the same music, talented and as intellectual as Kurt who would have been as good of a match for him as Courtney Love. A friend of Kurt's cited that after he started talking to Courtney on the phone, Kurt told him "I've met the coolest girl in the whole world." Even though his life was short and had a tragic ending, he's lucky he found someone who actually understood him and loved him for who he was. So many people never find true love, get married and have a child with the person they're in love with. That would have been the real tragedy. At least Kurt experienced that in his short life.

@Dank Mheems In fact, Hole reached the peak of their career with the album Celebrity Skin in 1998. They sold over a million copies in the US, and Celebrity Skin was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 1999 Grammy Awards.

@Donna Gosdantian ''I don't know if she killed Kurt or not.'' Well, just listen to Krist Novoselic. He has already said it all, "He should have never done that. He should have never done that, what he did. It happens all the time; it happens every day. I think he was out of his mind on heroin. I remember seeing him those last days, and he was loaded, and so he wasn't thinking clearly when he did that. And after Rome, he tried to kill himself in Rome. And I think he was kind of really weird after that. He was quiet. You know. He should have never done that but he did it. It's terrible. People do it. I was heart-broken when it happened. It was terrible." (Interview for Spin Magazine in 2015)
