Hozier was born in Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland. His mother is the visual artist Raine Hozier-Byrne (who also designed his latest album cover). He began a degree in music at Trinity College, Dublin, but dropped out midway through his first year in order to record demos for Universal Music. While at Trinity, he became involved with the Trinity Orchestra. He was a member of Anúna from 2008 to 2012, and appears as a soloist on their 2012 release "Illumination" singing "La Chanson de Mardi Gras". He toured and sang with the group internationally including performances in Norway and the Netherlands.
In 2013, Hozier released the EP "Take Me to Church EP" (also containing "Like Real People Do", "Angel of Small Death and The Codeine Scene" and a live version of "Cherry Wine"), with the title track becoming his breakthrough single after it went viral on YouTube. It reached number one on the Irish iTunes singles chart and number two in the official chart on 25 October 2013.
Hozier followed up Take Me to Church with the new EP "From Eden EP" (also containing "Work Song", "Arsonist's Lullabye" and a live version of "To Be Alone"), and a number of festival tour dates and television appearances in the United States. Hozier released his self-titled album, "Hozier" on 19 September 2014. It had five singles including "Take Me to Church", "Work Song", and "From Eden", which were hits on his earlier EPs. On December 2014, it was announced that "Take Me to Church" was nominated at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards for Song of the Year in 2015.
In March 2019 he released Wasteland, Baby!. Sam Sodomsky's review in Pitchfork notes that "He’s got a gorgeous voice. Booming and effervescent, it’s an instrument that communicates passion, adventure, and wisdom," but also noted that the length of the album (14 tracks) became "humdrum."

Hozier Lyrics
I came in from the outside
Burnt out from the joy ride
She likes to roll here in my ashes anyway
Played from the bedside
Is "Stella By Starlight"
"That Was My Heart"
The drums that start off "Night And Day"
The same kind of music haunts her bedroom
I'm almost me again, she's almost you
I wouldn't know where to start
"Sweet Music" playing "In The Dark"
Be still "My Foolish Heart,"
Don't ruin this on me
I wouldn't know where to start
"Sweet Music" playing "In The Dark"
Be still "My Foolish Heart,"
Don't ruin this on me
Tell me who, and I'll be thanking them
The numbered lovers of Duke Ellington
Do I owe each kiss to lip and cheek as soft
As Chet can sing "Let's Get Lost"
And "Let The Good Times Roll"
Let "Smoke Rings" from this "Paper, Doll"
Blow sweet and thick 'til every thought of
"It Don't Mean A Thing"
I've got some colour back, she thinks so, too
I laugh like me again, she laughs like you
I wouldn't know where to start
"Sweet Music" playing "In The Dark"
Be still "My Foolish Heart,"
Don't ruin this on me
I wouldn't know where to start
"Sweet Music" playing "In The Dark"
Be still "My Foolish Heart,"
Don't ruin this on me
I wouldn't know where
I wouldn't know where
I wouldn't know where, I wouldn't know where
I wouldn't
I wouldn't know where
I wouldn't know where
I wouldn't know where, I wouldn't know where
I wouldn't know
"The Very Thought Of You" and "Am I Blue"?
"A Love Supreme" seems far removed
"I Get Along Without You Very Well," some other nights
The radio news reader chimes
Reporting "Russian Lullabies"
She'll turn to me awake and ask, Is everything "Alright"
I wouldn't know where to start
"Sweet Music" playing "In The Dark"
Be still "My Foolish Heart,"
Don't ruin this on me
I wouldn't know where to start
"Sweet Music" playing "In The Dark"
Be still "My Foolish Heart,"
Don't ruin this on me
I wouldn't know where to start
"Sweet Music" playing "In The Dark"
Be still "My Foolish Heart,"
Don't ruin this on me
I wouldn't know where to start
"Sweet Music" playing "In The Dark"
Be still "My Foolish Heart,"
Don't ruin this on me

[Verse 1]
I came in from the outside, burned out from a joy ride
She likes to roll here in my ashes anyway
Played from the bedside is "Stella by Starlight"
That was my heart, the drums that start off "Night and Day"
[Pre-Chorus 1]
The same kind of music haunts her bedroom
I'm almost me again, she's almost you
[Chorus]
I wouldn't know where to start
Sweet music playing in the dark
Be still, my foolish heart
Don't ruin this on me
I wouldn't know where to start
Sweet music playing in the dark
Be still, my foolish heart
Don't ruin this on me
[Verse 2]
Tell me who, and I'll be thanking them
The numbered lovers of Duke Ellington
Do I owe each kiss to lip and cheek as soft as Chet can sing
Let's get lost and let the good times roll
Let smoke rings from this paper doll
Blow sweet and thick 'til every thought of it don't mean a thing
[Pre-Chorus 2]
I got some colour back, she thinks so, too
I laugh like me again, she laughs like you
[Chorus]
I wouldn't know where to start
Sweet music playing in the dark
Be still, my foolish heart
Don't ruin this on me
I wouldn't know where to start
Sweet music playing in the dark
Be still, my foolish heart
Don't ruin this on me
[Bridge]
I wouldn't know where
I wouldn't know where
I wouldn't know where, I wouldn't know where
I wouldn't, mmm
I wouldn't know where
I wouldn't know where
I wouldn't know where, I wouldn't know where
I wouldn't know
[Verse 3]
The very thought of you and am I blue?
A love supreme seems far removed
I get along without you very well some other nights
Oh, the radio news reader chimes
Reporting Russian lullabies
She'll turn to me awake and ask, "Is everything alright?"
And, Lord
[Chorus]
I wouldn't know where to start
Sweet music playing in the dark
Be still, my foolish heart
Don't ruin this on me
I wouldn't know where to start
Sweet music playing in the dark
Be still, my foolish heart
Don't ruin this on me
I wouldn't know where to start
Sweet music playing in the dark (I wouldn't know where)
Be still, my foolish heart
Don't ruin this on me
I wouldn't know where to start
Sweet music playing in the dark (I wouldn't know where)
Be still, my foolish heart
Don't ruin this on me

Not knowing about Cameron Boyce, I saw this and thought - wow - that's some amazing dancing in that video.
I'm honestly glad he brought such joy and happiness to so many people.
I lost my 19 year old BBBS Little Brother last year. So this hits especially hard. I'm so sorry for his loss, and I send my deepest condolences to his family, his friends, and his fans.
Such bright lights...
Ricky Dillon
RIP Cameron. so talented, I love watching him dance

@Eugeniya Leshenko you have some underlying issues you should work on
Zoe Price
@biigdoog102603 You too love, appreciate the calm response, some people can be really awful if they want to be
biigdoog102603
@Zoe Price ok good enough. Sorry if I came off a little strong. You have a great rest of you day. Everyone deserves some happy day here and there ☺️
Zoe Price
@biigdoog102603 No, I think you made your point fairly clear. Look, I try not to start pointless debates, and to an extent I agree what M.S. was saying about corporate control, but I just think this is the wrong place to bring it up
biigdoog102603
@Zoe Price obviously you didn't understand what I was trying to convey in my post. So I'll make more plain and laid out. Why are people caring so much of what other people feel does it really matter that must of people where they have to argue and bicker about someone's feelings to a celebrity or if they don't have feelings. The fact that someone can get so riled up and offended by what someone feels and what they're saying and then just expressing empathy or the lack thereof is pointless. There's much better things you could be doing with your life then scrolling through comments and bitching about someone else's beliefs when you can just let them have their own time to mourn or to not care. The only time that you should be getting into arguments of this nature of where you're trying to condemn someone is when it actually could have ramifications beyond that one person and affecting that singular person.
Debates are fine you want to get into a civil argument or both sides understand that they're not trying to attack each other and trying to learn from the experience awesome but both of the time is people just yelling at the top of their lungs condemning others and the other side yelling back just as loud with no real knowledge or information being garnered
