Tell Me A Story
by Iggy Pop

What must I do to take a holiday
Show me a bill that they can make me pay
Tell me a story
And maybe I'll believe it

Me I'm just a lucky guy
Young and free
Too hard to cry

Lorna from my school she's 21
She's good looking and a married girl so
Tell me a story
Tell me stories
And man I ain't complaining

Me I'm just a lucky guy
Young and hard
Too tough to cry

Standing in a show
The lights ain't low
They're shining down on me
And I like, I like it
Just like I like I like it
I'm taking like I find it

What did they do to chill the joy away
What did they do to say you had to pay
And pay
And pay
Tell me stories
You know I never can believe them
Never ever

Me I'm just a lucky guy
I'm young and free
Too dumb to cry

What must I do to take a holiday
Show me a bill that they can make me pay
Tell me a story
And maybe I'll believe it

Me I'm just a lucky guy
I'm Young and free
Too hard to cry

@rolzyc actually that's Earl Shackelford (me) singing backup vocals on this and some of the other tracks on New Values

Nice work man !

a shackelforde Cool man. I love Iggy Pop and his music. He's a pretty wild dude but a survivor that evolved and overcame. His path to fame was less than conventional even after David Bowie started working with him. He's definitely a recognizable part of American pop culture, even if it took him awhile to be recognized as one of the original punk, new wave, alternative, even industrial artists. His music incorporates so many aspects of rock, R&B, punk, avant garde, etc. You are quite fortunate to have been talented and notorious enough to make your way into finished Iggy Pop compositions.

Norm Appleton

Iggy's best solo record by far.

Mark Rago

@Norm Appleton Lots of solid new wave/ post punk/garage rock songs here. This and perhaps Don't Look Down were a bit poppy and of the time, but they too are pure Iggy.

And how could I forget FIVE FOOT ONE

Norm Appleton

@Trevor Barre No it does not. New Values: the song sounds like an alley fight. Then Girls!, Bored and the Endless Sea...nothing MOR about this.

Norm Appleton

Nah, it's better

Trevor Barre

And Kill City.

This great album, The Igg-Man's "New Values" takes me back to living in Mission Beach, Calif in 1980 or so and my roomie Bryan was a BIG Iggy fan....we played his "Metallic K-O", "Fun House" 'Raw Power" albums damn near every night. It was not the typical college guy music, but damn, cold been, loud stereo and Iggy singing..."Me I'm just a lucky guy...I lika lika lIKE IT!!!!" Jim Osterberg is still with us, and for that, the music world should give real thanks!
