They began in 1997 as a very heavy six-piece sludge metal band fronted by two alternating vocalists, Jarrett and Shomik, who switched between growling, singing, and screaming. They released a full-length, H.A.V.O.C., and an untitled 3-song demo referred to as Ghrintoure be in 2001. After losing both vocalists due to college and other differences, Irepress has progressed towards a far different sound. As an instrumental band, their sound could be described as a sludge and post-rock -influenced brand of progressive rock. In 2005, they released an 8-song LP, Samus Octology. Jarrett has since rejoined the band. Their current line-up is Jarrett, Benji, Shan, Sheel, and Dino, and in 2009 they released Sol Eye Sea I on Translation Loss Records

Do we erase the fascination that made us, that gave us names of our own. Do we embrace the subtle ways, the changes, the moments that tied us to home. Without a trace of hesitation the sentiments of my childhood are bonded to bone. I see your face in recollection, impressions that stay with me until you are here.
The same type of harmony between us, when we were young, there were no complications
Do we possess lovers obsession, collections of passions in each word we spoke. Do we evoke the hidden ghosts of our inner most hopes and mentors that tied us to home. We cannot cloak forces of nature, gripped onto the portraits that frame us.
Dine on the fractured frames, can you contain the essence of golden days gone, slipped into the shadows beneath us
We Scream together, We Bleed together, we fight together, We own together, We Scream together, We Bleed together, we fight together, We'll be here forever

it sounds like "potraits that frame us", "not portraits that paint us"
