Swans
Islands Lyrics

Swans
Swans
Swans sing songs
All night long
Who knew how warm the islands were

While the frogs look on
It's what the birds prefer
And it's still warm after the sun has gone

I woke up thirsty the day I died
And the tide was swirling
My mouth is so dry
And all I see is sea to shining seas

Swans
Swans
Swans sing songs
All night long
Who knew how warm the islands would be

And who knew just how much
The sky covers me
It makes you forget what it means to be free

I climbed into the blowhole
In the ribs I found you
With a wick we lit a flame
Now look at the smoke that it blew

The mouth is so wide
Yet all I see is sea
And azure sky
A little wave and ebb tide

Rivers leak
Salt seeps in
Heals wounds
Winds pry apart

Rivers leak
Salt seeps in
Heals wounds
Winds pry apart

Rivers leak
Salt seeps in
Heals wounds
Winds pry apart

Swans
Swans
Swans sung songs
'Til the morning dawned on us
And the sun-smudged peach moon still hung loose

Bones
Bones
Bones
Groan
The sparrows in the trees we leave them for
They love the marrow

I'm thankful for my life
I'm thankful for my life

I'm going to try and catch all Unicorn references in this song as it plays. 1. The band name, Islands. From 'I'm Ready to Die' (see 4) 2. The title Life After Death, the song "I'm Ready to Die". 3. The opening riff is the same as Thunder & Lightening, or William, Clap your Hands. 4. "I woke up thirsty, the day I died" from 'I'm Ready to Die' "I woke up thirsty on an island in the sea. 5. "...A little wave and ebb tide". From 'Ebb Tide, Azure Sky' 6. "the sun-smudged Peach Moon." from Peach Moon

That's pretty amazing, only caught about half of those. Be sure to check out the remaster that's coming out soon; Swans is already up on their Bandcamp and it sounds badaaassssss.

this took me too long to find, been a fan of the unicorns for a while

16 years ago, I heard my friend's older brother Robert playing the little intro riff to this song, and I was blown away. I had been a huge Unicorns/Islands fan for a while at that point. He said it was really easy, but I didn't believe him. Then Robert spent the next 15 minutes showing me, someone with absolutely no prior music knowledge how to play, or at least enough to keep at it on my own. Fast forward to me being 26, and now all I do is play and make my own music. So thanks Nick, OR Alden, or whoever wrote this song/intro, and whoever wrote Thunder and Lighting/Swans, and thanks to Robert for showing me where this little riff lived in the guitar. And thanks Jamzar1k, for posting this, and sending me on my little flashback..

To be honest, I like Thunder and Lightning Better.. But love both!
