In his debut CD release INSIDE OUT, Houston-based sax man J. Sylvester delivers an electrifying collection of lights-out performances, ranging from the sensual slow jams of “Suite Seduction” and “What Kind of Man Would I Be” to the uber-funky “Memphis Bounce” and “Traffic Jam.” This talented music man tears it up on these jams, helped out instrumentally by Darryl Williams and Kyle Turner… vocally by D-Mac and Sherea Jordan, the latter on a truly memorable version of Minnie Riperton’s “Loving You.” This is hot stuff, filled with dynamic rhythms and textures laid down by J. and some of Houston’s finest musicians. I’m expecting to see this one rising on the charts sooner, not later, and it’s definitely one to add to your jazz collection. J. Sylvester’s INSIDE OUT is the bomb.! Get it, dig it, play it for your friends!
