The recordings of Jensen Code are believed to be the only known alien response to (one or more of) the various musical and other art works sent out into deep space over the last century both in wave and physical form (for example, the transmissions over NASA's Deep Space Network or the Voyager Golden Record project).
There has been some speculation - based largely on the inference of the lyrical content, but also from claimed (though unproven) direct contact with certain humans - that the group is in fact on its way to Earth. Their website suggests this might be as early as 2013, though as we do not know from where they are coming it is impossible to predict with any accuracy when, or even if, they might arrive.
The Music
It is understood that their first release, The True Colors Of Mars 1, may be the first of a concept EP trilogy. O'Sullivan, who makes occasional announcements on the band's behalf via her Twitter account (@OSullivan_JC) tweeted on 8th Nov 2011 that the mixes of the follow-up EP were being "dropped off tonight via 2005 YU55". Update: The second EP was released on 25th April 2012 and was entitled The True Colors Of Mars 2, adding weight to the above theory.
More has been learned about the possible musical influences of the band. Over the last 50 years the DSN (see above) has broadcast into space the following musical works: The complete symphonies of Haydn, the entire works of J.S. Bach, all Beethoven's orchestral works, all the concertos and symphonies of Mozart and The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, a 1972 concept LP by David Bowie.
Late in 2011 NASA received a short message, traced to the Carina Nebula region. The message read, simply, "Please send more Bowie".
