Will He
Joji Lyrics

I got knots all up in my chest (up in my chest, up in my chest)
Just know, I'm trying my best (I'm trying my best)
'Cause, when you look (when you look)
When you laugh (when you laugh)
When you smile (when you smile)
I'll bring you back (bring you back)
And now I'm sad (now I'm sad)
And I'm a mess (and I'm a mess)
And now we high (now we high)
That's, why I left (why I left)
That's, why I left

Will your tongue still remember the taste of my lips? (my lips, my lips, my lips)
Will your shadow remember the swing of my hips? (my hips, my hips, my hips)
Will your lover caress you the way, that I did? (I did, I did, I did)
Will you notice my charm, if he slips up one bit? (one bit)

'Cause I don't need to know
I just wanna make sure you're okay (okay)
I don't need to know
I just wanna make sure you're all safe, all safe, all safe

Will he play you those songs, just the way, that I did? (I did, I did, I did)
Will he play you so strong, just the way, that I did? (I did)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Will he treat you like shit, just the way, that I did? (I did, I did, I did)
'Cause I don't blame ya

'Cause I don't need to know
I just want to make sure you're okay (okay)
I don't need to know
I just want to make sure you're all safe

Full analysis/story of the Music Video:

𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒇'𝒔
So the music video (MV) is centralised around Joji not being able to move on from someone who has already moved on from him- a recurring motif found throughout the MV is the colour red, found with the blood and lighting, which is representative of the love Joji and this woman had for each other. We can see Joji walking through the streets with a blood splattered shirt, as well as literally bathing in bloody water, showing he is yet to move on from their past relationship. In a dreamlike flashback, we can see the woman he loved dancing in red light, showing how she was once too 'dancing' in the love they had for each other. However, the music video cuts to her having a shower shown in complete blue light. This blue light represents a lack of love, further illustrating how while Joji is bathing in the love they once shared, she is literally washing herself of it.

𝑴𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒂:

The symbolism of the panda, house and the arrow is a little more tricky. We open the music video with a shot of the panda, later confirmed to be Joji, dancing in the middle of a blue room (devoid of love) in what looks to be the aftermath of a party. I interpret this as Joji still dancing as if the party was still going on, paralleling how he is still loving this woman despite the relationship being over. The meaning of the panda itself could be argued that its a goofy mask and costume, hiding up both the pain, and his true intentions inside.

𝑾𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒘:
Finally, we come to the arrow and the woman herself. We can see she is dressed in an angel's costume, perhaps illustrating how Joji views her as one. It's presumed Joji shot her with an arrow, similar to a twisted, dark cupid or his arrow in Slow Dancing in the Dark. I do not believe that the woman with the arrow wound is real, rather just the embodiment of his feelings for her. She's been shot through the head, while this is usually a fatal shot, we can see she's still blinking. This could illustrate how Joji tried to kill her, not literally but rather kill her to him, so that his feelings for her will soon be dead aswell. However we can see she is still blinking, with the wound drawing blood. This might illustrate how despite Joji giving his best efforts to move on from her, make her, and his feelings for her 'dead' to him, it didn't work.
Another interpretation of this is that Joji is trying to act as a cupid, and force her to love him again. In attempting to do this however, he hurt her quite severely and ultimately sealed his fate as but a piece of her past.

So he's left still bathing in the love they once shared, while she has moved on.

Years ago Joji was just a living meme.
Now he's living the dream.

EDIT: Yes, I know Joji has been doing music for a long while now. I just find it amazing that his music has blown up so much since he started, and I'm very glad he went from "joke music" to meaningful and serious songs, it's beautiful.
((Please continue making both, though))

He’s a good example of the saying “the funniest people are the saddest”

"good" = deeply personally the one and only rn.

Saddest doesn't exist. Pain ain't a competition because once you hit a threshold, it's game over. You can only take so much, so I think your playing backwards. No disrespect but if someone isn't funny, that's irrelevant. Plus at least funny people can make others happy. Imagine if everyone couldn't stand you (maybe you know maybe not), and either avoided or hated you

fact!
