Side by Side
Kay Starr Lyrics

Oh, we ain't got a barrel of money
Maybe we're ragged and funny
But we'll travel along, singin' a song
Side by side
Don't know what's comin' tomorrow
Maybe it's trouble and sorrow
But we'll travel the road, sharin' our load
Side by side
Through all kinds of weather
What if the sky should fall
Just as long as we're together
It doesn't matter at all
When they've all had their quarrels and parted
We'll be the same as we started
Just travelin' along, singin' our song
Side by side

See that sun in the mornin'
Peekin' over the hill
I'll bet you sure, it always has
And it always will
Well, that's how I feel about someone
And somebody feels about me
We're sure in love with each other
And that's the way it's gonna be

Oh, we ain't got a barrel of money
Maybe we're ragged and funny
But we'll travel along, singin' a song
Side by side
Don't know what's comin' tomorrow
Maybe it's trouble and sorrow
But we'll travel the road, sharin' our load
Side by side
Through all kinds of weather
What if the sky should fall
Just as long as we're together
It doesn't matter at all
When they've all had their quarrels and parted
We'll be the same as we started
Just travelin' along, singin' our song
Side by side

My Grandma who recently passed away used to always sing this song to me as I grew up this was our favorite song to sing together! God knows I miss her and everything she did for me!! Love you always and forever granny!!

Boo Yeah

Me too! I still have a little wind up music player that plays this song. Every time I went to visit I would go wind it up to hear it play. It's probably my most prized possession.

Per Jonsson

One of my favourite recordings! Kay Starr effectively singing duet with herself. One of the first recordings where they used two-track overdub. Recorded June 26, 1952.

Sheogorath

I'm quite a young adult, but Kay Starr inspired me many years ago when I was in my early teens. While everyone was listen to pop music or metal, I would be listening to Kay Starr.

She defines jazz for me. She has class, she has the voice, and she is by far the greatest singer to me. I sing this with my grandmother sometimes, when she heard me play it she mentioned she hadn't heard it in years, and that moment brought me even closer to my grandmother.

Kay Starr is the reason I listen to 1940/50's music. Years on and her death still pains me.

Thank you for uploading this, it was high quality and it's good to see Kay Starr still gets some attention these days.
