Light Up
Sammy Wilk Lyrics

You know I need to light up
And if you're feeling the vibes, you're feeling the vibes
Then go and put your light up, yeah
I need to roll one, and smoke one
Yeah it's time to call the plug again
I need to roll one, and smoke one
Yeah it's time to call the plug again
Look Nebraska is where I'm coming from
Relaxing, take a puff
Out in California living like the chosen one
So go and say "what's up"
You see me go and throw it up
And I'mma smoke one for you
You see me living like that
And now, you're feeling me, feeling me
Fill my cup up with that
I'm drinking hennessy, hennessy
See me living like that
And now, you're feeling me, feeling me
Fill my cup up with that
I'm drinking hennessy, hennessy
All this anticipation
I got the resolution
I'm feeling myself, I'm feeling myself
You know I need to light up
And if you're feeling the vibes, you're feeling the vibes
Then go and put your light up, yeah
I need to roll one, and smoke one
Yeah it's time to call the plug again
I need to roll one, and smoke one
Yeah it's time to call the plug again
Yeah this life is 'bout a mystery
These dreams, you write my history
Roll another spliff and reminis on how it's meant to be
And now, they're telling me
They love me, now, they're hating me
Can't please my enemies
I'm me until I rest in peace
All this anticipation
I got the resolution
I'm feeling myself, I'm feeling myself
You know I need to light up
And if you're feeling the vibes, you're feeling the vibes
Then go and put your light up, yeah
I need to roll one, and smoke one
Yeah it's time to call the plug again
I need to roll one, and smoke one
Yeah it's time to call the plug again
I'm feeling myself, I'm feeling myself
You know I need to light up
And if you're feeling the vibes, you're feeling the vibes
Then go and put your light up, yeah
I need to roll one, and smoke one
Yeah it's time to call the plug again
I need to roll one, and smoke one
Yeah it's time to call the plug again
In Sammy Wilk's song "Light Up," the singer discusses the desire to relax, smoke a joint, and enjoy life. The lyrics highlight the importance of taking a break and indulging in a little self-care from time to time, and encourage listeners to follow suit. Additionally, the song touches on themes of love and hate, and the difficulty in pleasing everyone.
The opening lines of the song, “I'm feeling myself, I'm feeling myself / You know I need to light up,” suggest that the singer is in need of some relaxation and enjoyment. He calls on the audience to join him and “put your light up” if they’re feeling the same vibes. The lyrics about smoking also add to the song’s laid-back, chill atmosphere. The line “I need to roll one, and smoke one / Yeah it's time to call the plug again” emphasizes the singer’s intention to enjoy his time and take a break from stress.
The reference to Nebraska and California shows a contrast in lifestyle, with Nebraska representing a more relaxed way of life, and California representing a life of fame and fortune. This contrast adds another layer of depth to the song, suggesting that no matter where you come from or what you’re doing with your life, it’s important to take a step back and enjoy yourself.
