Get Innocuous!
LCD Soundsystem Lyrics
Home, home in the late, night
And away, away in the half, life
Except Saturdays, crushed by the boring
And played and plagued by the tourists again
When once you had believed it
Now you see it's sucking you in
To string you along with the pretense
And pave the way for the coming release
Alone and prone in the half light
And late, late to the real life
If you find a way into the gold rush
You will stay until the morning
You can normalize
Don't it make you feel alive?
You can normalize
Don't it make you feel alive?
You can normalize
Don't it make you feel alive?
You can normalize
Don't it make you feel alive?
You can normalize
Don't it make you feel alive?
You can normalize
Don't it make you feel alive?
You can normalize
Don't it make you feel alive?
You can normalize
Don't it make you feel alive?
Get innocuous!

Home,
Home in the late night
And away,
Away in the half light
Except today,
Crushed by the boring
Until played and plagued
By the touring again
When once you
Had believed it
Now you see
It's sucking you in
To string you along
With the pretense
And pave the way
For the coming release
Alone and prone

This song is the best first song on an album, ever. Well, maybe not, but damn close. The first whisper of drum machine and synth, then that one piano chord coming ever closer, ever louder, then more drums, then more, then more, then the voice, or voices, "when once you have believed it...now you see it's sucking you in...to string you along with the pretense...and pave the way for the coming release." This isn't a song. It's an opening argument. And listen to the album, the case is made.

There is definitely some David Bowie vibes in James Murphy's vocals on this one. I like it.

As a New Yorker, walking around and listening to this is a real gift.

So many great post-punk bands from New York

Really experimental and unique. Really feeling them and other eclectic acts like Bjork, Radiohead, Massive Attack, Unkle, The XX, James Blake, Jamie Woon, Dub Fx, Eskmo, Goyte, Scroobius Pip, AllFlaws

I've listened to Björk, Radiohead, Massive Attack, Unkle, The XX, and Gotye, and yeah I'm really feeling them too. Good selection.
