The first mention of the album dates back to December 10, 2018, in a tweet that aptly read “Flawless like me.” Nothing substantial ever stood out about the tweet until it was implied to be a part of a three-album release after his mixtape Days B4 III.
Falling behind time, the album didn’t meet expectations to be conceived in 2019. The album however wasn’t entirely scrapped by LUCKI himself, instead claiming that the project would be coming “soon” on January 15, 2020. To the surprise of no one, the album was pushed back again for the extended play Almost There. LUCKI commented on the state of FLAWLESS LIKE ME, where he stated:
May 30th 10 song EP “Almost There/As…” – “Flawless Like Me” the album RIGHT after that."
In LUCKI’s Instagram live session on September 8, 2022, he would speak more on the album, revealing the September 23 release date.
After the FLAWLESS LIKE ME’s cover art leaked on September 17, 2022, LUCKI would confirm the leak’s validity and post a higher quality cover later that same day, alongside outtakes of the cover’s photoshoot.
On the morning of September 19, 2022, the second lead single “GEEKED N BLESSED” would release along with the 24-track album preview on Apple Music. The tracklist featured the two bonus tracks “Y NOT?” and “Super Urus,” which were released earlier this year as loose singles prior to the release. A re-touched version of the artwork and pre-save link also accommodated the single, via Instagram.
