1. Last of Three - Haven Yates, Jon Hendrix, and Matt Nickel 2002 - Present
The Name
Last of Three was formed from a band named Pneuma, established in early 2000. It has always been important to Last of Three's members - Haven Yates, Matt Nickel, and Jon Hendrix to have a name packed with deep meaning. The name 'Pneuma' was based on the root of the Greek word ' Pneumatikos,' translated 'Spiritual Gifts' in the Bible - Romans 12:1. The exact date of the name change to Last of Three is hard to nail down, but it was sometime in 2002, prior to the creation of this Acidplanet profile, dated 11-14-2002: http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?aid=145850&t=1966
As explained in depth by Haven Yates on Acidplanet, the group, upon discovering a couple other bands named Pneuma, decided to go deeper into the inspiration for their name Pneuma, studied related chapters about Spiritual Gifts, and landed in 1 Corinthians 12-14, which goes in depth about God's gifting to His beloved church, and where especially inspired by the foundational conclusion to 1 Cor. 13 - The Love Chapter. "And now abideth faith, hope, and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love." 1 Cor. 13:13
...The greatest of these is love... the last of three abiding gifts mentioned in the verse. Faith, Hope, and Love. The mission of the group Last of Three is to celebrate and share this Biblical, Supernatural love.
The Members
Last of Three is Jon Hendrix (Drums, Bass, Engineering), Matt Nickel (Guitars, Cello, Bass, Vocals), and Haven Yates (Guitars, Bass, Vocals)
Jon Hendrix - Jon has performed in various groups and worship teams outside of Pneuma and Last of Three, one of the most notable being the group Cover Story - hugely popular in the Southern Oregon area in its time. Jon has always had a talent and aptitude for the technical - he has always been an integral part of the recording process. The band broke for a period of time, and Jon headed to Arizona to attend The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences, and returned home to Southern Oregon, a member of a very elite group of Pro Tools certified engineers in the state. He interned with renowned producer Silvia Chevy, then started a studio called AmberVu with his old band mate and now brother in law, and built an impressive portfolio of recordings for the likes of Tallboy, Katie King, Jesse Lawson, Schroder, and many others. He continues to lend his talents to the ever continuing mission of Last of Three.
Matt Nickel - Matt is an important part of Last of Three's unique signature sound. He is an accomplished songwriter as a solo artist, and an excellent collaborator. Many of Last of Three's songs begin with an idea by Matt, further writing and arranging with Haven, then finishing as a group. Matt has played many venues large and small as a solo artist, has many radio ready songs under his belt, and continues work in online collaboration with the group.
Haven Yates - Starting out on the Ukulele at age 6, expanding to guitar, worship leading and songwriting at age 16, Haven has had many growing experiences in the area of music ministry. He has played many concerts of all sizes, as a solo artist, worship leader, in different bands, and songwriting through every life experience. At the beginning of the New Year at 2013, Haven's original song list had risen to over 50 songs, ready to be produced and played on radio. He continues to cultivate his gifts, with a focus on songwriting, and pushes himself to learn every aspect of creating a song that hits the soul with a clear message, in the music language of the day. He is currently perfecting his talents on guitar, bass, piano, recording software, drums, MIDI, etc. and is working to revive an renew the magic that is Last of Three.

2. Last of Three - Rich Hannon, Lenny Everett, Sean Boyer 2008 - Present
About The Name
Rich Hannon has enjoyed quite a bit of success with the name “Rich Hannon Band” in the previous two years. But, he was always a bit uncomfortable with the name, and the association that this was a solo act. Although he writes the majority of the music, he has always maintained that the songs would never have come to fruition, had it not been for his bandmates: Lenny Everett (bass) and Sean Boyer (drums)
With that in mind, Rich wanted a band name that wasn't stereotype. For years, he used the name “Last of Three” as part of his internet correspondences.
The name originally derived from the fact that Rich is the third, and last to carry on his family name. Extending that idea to this trio, seemed to be the perfect name for the next phase of this band.
About The Band
Rich, Lenny, and Sean, have been playing, gigging, and recording together (in one form or another) for over a decade. "We've played countless shows through the years" says Rich, "These days, we focus more on songcraft, than a full date book." With that being said, under the moniker "Rich Hannon Band," this trio has garnered unprecedented success for only playing a handful of live shows. They’ve racked up a number one song on the popular website “KIAC.com,” (an indie music site that is watched carefully by the major labels, and reports to one of the oldest and most respected chart magazines, “Cashbox”) and a recent Top 10 spot on another heavy hitting industry website, “Ourstage.com” (sponsored by AOL). The various achievements and accolades are too numerous to mention in this bio, but a quick Google search will lead you to many of the accomplishments in the relatively short existence of this band.
About The Future
The band have recently finished recording new material with acclaimed producer, Brett Hestla (Dark New Day, Virgos Merlot, Creed) in his private studio in Orlando, FL. The release of this material marks a new beginning for “Last of Three.” Even though they will still rely on their back catalog of songs in the future, the band feels that the new material, coupled with Brett's five star production, has yielded a modern twist to the alternative roots-rock sound that they are synonymous with. So this will be the first that you hear of the “Last of Three.”

The Press
“Memorable, soulful rock…guitar tone for days…songs you’ll want to listen to more than once. This one stays on my iPod!”
- Joel Selvin, San Francisco Chronicle
"Last of Three is an infection you won't want to get rid of. They make music that comes from an honest and simple place...the callous handed, blue collar back yard of rock & roll. Listen and enjoy an earfull of audio reality"
- Brett Hestla, Producer
“The sampler I received contained 3 ear-opening songs. Standout vocals and fleshy riffs permeate…the more I hear, the more I like!”
- Hedy Henderson, Editor, Genxeffect.com
