Boys To Men
New Edition Lyrics

Growing up can be a pain
You're not an man until you come of age
We've given up our teenage years
In the effort to pursue our career

Who assumes responsibility
Of having to support our families
Who's protecting us from harm
Is there anyone around
That we can trust

So we search for answers to our questions
Looking for answers
No answers but we're taught a lesson everytime
Through mistakes we've learned to gather wisdom
Life's responsibility falls in our hands

Keep on learning
Keep on growing
'Cause wisdom helps us understand
We're maturing
Without knowing
These are the things that change boys to men

Oh the goals we set may exceed reality
'Cause failure always a possibility
Who can tell us that we're wrong
It's up to us to figure out
What life is all about

So we search for answers to questions
Looking for the answers
No answers but we're taught a lesson everytime
Through mistakes we've learned to gather wisdom
'Cause wisdom helps us see our responsibility.

Growing up can be a pain
You're not a man until you come of age
We've given up our teenage years
In the effort to pursue our career
Who assumes responsibility
Of having to support our families?
Who's protecting us from harm?
Is there anyone around, that we can trust?

So we search for answers to our questions
(Looking for the answers)
No answers but we are taught a lesson every time (Every time)
Through mistakes we've learned to gather wisdom (Ohhhohhh)
(Life's responsibilities falls in our hands)

Keep on learning, keep on growing
(Wisdom helps us understand)
We're maturing, without knowing
(These are the things that change boys to men)

Oh, the goals we set may exceed reality
'Cause failure always is a possibility
Who can tell us that we're wrong?
It's up to us to figure out, what life is all about
So we search for answers to questions
(Looking for the answers)
No answers but we are taught a lesson every time (Every time)
Through mistakes we've learned to gather wisdom
(Whoa, whoa, whoa)
(And wisdom helps us see our responsibility)
Keep on learning, keep on growing
(Oh yeah, wisdom helps us understand)
We're maturing, without knowing
(Yeah, these are the things that change boys to men)

Keep on learning, keep on growing
(I know it gets hard sometimes, yeah)
(Growing up can be a pain)
We're maturing, without knowing
(You're not a man, not a man, oh)
(All you have to do, all you have to do is hold on)
(Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on...)
Keep on learning, keep on growing
(No-no-no-no-no-no-no)
(Yeah, yeah, keep on growing)
We're maturing, without knowing
(Who's gonna protect us from our heart? Yeah)
(You see life's responsibility, falls in our hand, falls in our hand)

We search for answers to questions
No answers but we are taught a lesson every time We're maturing, without knowing
(See, growing up, can be a pain, can be a pain...)

Man this song hits the heart. Man I came along way, from a young teenager contemplating suicide and even attempted twice, now I'm 39 years old, I'm a firefighter, a business owner, husband and an Uncle. Hearing from my mother that she's proud of who I became, is the greatest feeling ever.. Especially with my struggles as a kid growing up. According to my stepfather, I'll never be good enough, just for the simple fact I'm not his real son and I was an inconvenience. To those who made it much love, and those struggles, much love you yall, keep pushing don't give up, it gets hard, but don't give up.
