Cello Song
Nick Drake Lyrics

Strange face, with your eyes
So pale and sincere
Underneath you know well
You have nothing to fear
For the dreams that came to you when so young
Told of a life
Where spring is sprung

You would seem so frail
In the cold of the night
When the armies of emotion
Go out to fight
But while the earth sinks to its grave
You sail to the sky
On the crest of a wave

So forget this cruel world
Where I belong
I'll just sit and wait
And sing my song
And if one day you should see me in the crowd
Lend a hand and lift me
To your place in the cloud

Truest thing I've read in the last 10 years

Samuel.J.Barker

I once got to visit Nick Drake's grave when i was a kid with my dad.
It was in the sleepy little village he was born in, on a day when everything was covered in a blanket of snow and the air itself seemed a thick white hue.
It was a strange transcient experience, a very fitting image for his resting place.
A memory i'll never forget.

@Samuel.J.Barker He was born in Burma ...But you and your Father are perfectly correct. He died at his home in Tanworth in Arden in Warwickshire on the 25th of November 1974. He was cremated at Solihull and his ashes were interred with his Mother Molly and His Father Rodney under the large Oak tree in the cemetery of The Church of St Mary Magdalene in Tanworth in Arden.
I too have visited the grave and it was a very beautiful and Spiritual Experience.
RIP Genius x
