His first album, titled 'Junges Blut' (English: 'Young Blood'), came out in March 1983. Playing a melodic pop/rock style, his large popularity in the 80s in both West Germany and East Germany continued for several years, but his career faced some changes later on.

His popularity rose again after the new millennium began. For example, his 2002 album 'Solange man liebt...' (English: 'As long as you love...') hit the top 40 in the Austrian and German album charts. He's had many roles in film and on television over the past two decades. Nino de Angelo has won the prestigious Golden Tuning Fork award three times as well.
