Be Here Now is the third studio album by English rock band Oasis. Released in August 1997 the album was highly anticipated by both music critics and fans as a result of the band's previous worldwide successes with their 1994 debut album Definitely Maybe and its 1995 follow up (What's the Story) Morning Glory?. The album's pre-release build up led to considerable hype within both the music and mainstream press. These tactics resulted in the alienation of members of both the music and mainstream media, as well as many industry personnel connected with the band. Ignition's attempts to limit pre-release access served to fuel large scale speculation and publicity within the British music scene.

5 minutes and 44 seconds of unexplained mystery, attitude and danger. I love this song, and listen to this every day.I still remember when this song was released in 97. The hype was insane. I think that the release of this, Knebworth and the release of BHN are Oasis' three biggest moments. This is one of the oddest moments ever. All those 20 something people there filmed in Full HD resolution, in the prime of their life, are around 50 years old right now. Before, you could not imagine your parents when they said 'when I was young' or they would be in old colour photographs. The songs on Be Here Now are fantastic, the problem with that album is the actual production phase. In my opinion, Be Here Now has some songs that could easily fit on WTSMG or DM had they been recorded differently. Keep in mind, some of those songs are actually older than the previous 2 albums for example All Around The World

@Seven Sorrows Yeah, but the Get Back project is a bit woeful. The image has been cropped from 4:3 to 16:9 widescreen losing a load of resolution. Then it’s been subject to very aggressive noise reduction and all the natural grain has been lost, further reducing the resolution. The colourspace is good, but the resolution is now more akin to standard definition video. Really poor effort in my view.

@Tommy I didn´t "slag him off" as a musician though, did I? I said he was a twat as a person (when I met him, which was in the mid-late 1990s). People who've me him more recently say he's changed quite a bit since then.

I've met loads of successful musicians in my time as a music journalist. Many of them were better musicians than Liam (or Noel). Some of them were more influential than Oasis (who, let's admit it, were a decent band with some ace tunes, but not exactly original or innovative), some even more successful (commercially). Most of them were alright, some of them even really nice/ intelligent people (Johnny Marr, Bernard Sumner, Damon Albarn, to mention a few). Being successful doesn't mean you have to act a wanker.

As for this song, those of us who were there when it came out will truly understand the hype when this was released.

Loved, loved Oasis. And still do. DNA of my childhood but felt a slight chill when this came out. The hype was insane and as an 18 year old felt disappointed by this during August 1997. Was an OK single and ridiculously excited to see them back but wasn’t great (look at Rockin’ Chair prior as a mere b-side) and the album proved it. As they always said Knebworth was their finest hour. How do you go back to such greatness especially after two astounding albums?

Liam is a great frontman no question, for me Freddie Mercury was the best ever but Liam is up there with him he sounds awesome and I love all these tunes. Funny thing is I didn't like Oasis back then was a teeneger but I'm 37 now and I listen to more rock and roll classics etc than ever

I watched Supersonic (the Oasis doco movie) a couple of weeks ago and I've been listening to them ever since. I think they're my favourite band now. I missed the whole Britpop revolution, back in the day, because I was too busy listening to Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins etc. I guess I'm 20 years too late but fuck it, good music is good music...

This was the single of their third album. After going full rock n roll for their first, Kinda modern beatles Rock for their second album I thought, thats its, they are going psychedelic for their third. I was mind blown with their evolution and how fucking great this track was. Oasis are the best brit rock band ever.

This is what this song should've been like. I'll always love the original version but I still feel it's too long and it hurts on the ears as well sometimes. The length to this is spot on and this remaster is so much better, you can hear everything more clearly. If only Noel did this 're-think' approach to all the other songs on Be Here Now, would definitely buy it!

Be Here now is a decent album that had the potential to be very good still some good songs on it, All Around the World is a seriously well written song that is way too long I'd even settle for just that being re-issued as 4/5 minute song.

Hopefully the Mustique sessions versions of the songs will serve as a full reinterpretation, simplification of the album. I love Be Here Now, but I am definitely looking forward to hearing a different, more basic version. Especially if it's all Noel vocals.
