Fuckin' in the Bushes
Oasis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We put this festival on you bastards, with a lotta love
We worked for one year for you pigs
And you want to break our walls down?
And you want to destroy us?
Well you go to hell

Kids are running around naked, fuckin' in the bushes
Kids are running around naked, fuckin' in the bushes
Kids are running around naked, fuckin' in the bushes
Kids are running around naked, fuckin' in the bushes

I love it

Ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah

Kids are running around naked, fuckin' in the bushes
Kids are running around naked, fuckin' in the bushes
Kids are running around naked, fuckin' in the bushes
Kids are running around naked, fuckin' in the bushes

I love it! Room for everybody here
Yes, all are welcome
Yes indeed, I love them
Fun! Nice! Life! Youths! Beautiful!
I'm all for it

I love it! Room for everybody here
Yes, all are welcome
Yes indeed, I love them
Fun! Nice! Life! Youths! Beautiful!
I'm all for it

Overall Meaning

The first several lines of "Fuckin' in the Bushes" by Oasis was seen as a defiant response to repeated attacks the band had received from critics and rivals alike. It was a track from the album "Standing on the Shoulder of Giants," and it begins with a spoken-word interlude that featured a man (possibly Noel Gallagher himself) yelling at the crowd. He denounces their detractors and taunts them: "We put this festival on, you bastards, with a lot of love!" he yells, before declaring the group's strength and independence by saying, "You're all invited to come to our place on Friday, chill out, watch TV." He then declares, "I'm all for it!" offering a challenge for others to try to bring him down.

The lyrics then shift to a repeating refrain focusing on kids who are "running around naked, fuckin' in the bushes." This phrase can be interpreted in different ways, but it seems to imply the band's acceptance of people being themselves and doing what makes them happy. The imagery of kids running around naked indicates a certain level of adventure and freedom, something that Oasis wants to promote. The phrase "fuckin' in the bushes" may indicate simple physical pleasure, but it can also be read in a more metaphorical sense as a rebellion against the established social order.
