As she's walking out the door
Oh and they're lining up like soldiers,
Going off to fight the war
And all the colors look like fireworks,
In skies she knew before
And nights can't hide the day
Then the tears roll down her face
When the ligh hits those eyes, that's she's dying to say
"Just take me away"
But the fog just sits like blankets
And it's drowning out the glow
You can hear voices loud and singing out,
A song nobody knows
But to her it sounds like home
Oh cause nights can't hide the day
Then the tears roll down her face
And the light huts those eyes, that's she's dying to say
"Just take me away, from all that I am
Just take me away, from all that I am"
Cause the fog just sits like blankets
And it smothers the glow
Oh and nights can't hide the day
Oh then the tears roll down her face
And the light hits those eyes, that's she's dying to say
"Just take me away, from all that I am.
Just take me away, from all that I am.
Just take me away, from all that I am.
Just take me away, from all that I am."
The lyrics of Parachute's song All That I Am evoke a sense of longing and desperation to escape a situation that feels suffocating and overwhelming. The song tells the story of a woman who is leaving Brooklyn, but as she walks out the door, she sees people lined up like soldiers going to war. The colors that once held beauty now resemble fireworks exploding in the skies she knew before. The nights can't hide the day, and tears roll down her face as she realizes that the words she wants to say, "Just take me away," remain unsaid.
The fog in her mind sits like blankets, smothering the light and drowning out the glow. She hears voices, loud and singing out, but nobody knows the song. To her, it sounds like home, a place that feels familiar and comforting. The nights can't hide the day, and the tears continue to roll down her face. The light hits her eyes, the eyes that are dying to say, "Just take me away." The repetition of this phrase emphasizes the feelings of desperation and longing for a way out.
Overall, Parachute's All That I Am portrays the emotions of wanting to escape from a situation that feels suffocating and overwhelming. The use of metaphors such as the fog and fireworks enhances the emotions portrayed by the lyrics, making it a powerful portrayal of human emotions.
