Notably, the album contains Williams' versions of "Out in the Country" and "I Won't Last a Day Without You", hits for Three Dog Night and the Carpenters, respectively. This is the first album on which Williams' original compositions or covers outnumber his collaborations with Roger Nichols, and the first to include co-compositions with writers other than Nichols.
The album's opening track and only single, "The Lady Is Waiting", is a re-recorded version of a song which was originally recorded by Williams' psychedelic group The Holy Mackerel. The Holy Mackerel version was originally sung by Williams' brother, Mentor Williams, who is also co-credited with writing "Rose" and providing backing vocals on the album.
