Notably, the song contains three Williams compositions from film soundtracks: "Lonely Hearts" (The Day of the Locust), "Old Souls" (Phantom of the Paradise), and "Ordinary Fool" (Bugsy Malone). It is viewed as Williams' most experimental album, including everything from archetypal Williams ballads, to jazzy blues, to off-kilter, uptempo rock. The instrumentation is diverse, and several songs dramatically change styles midway.
