King's first full-length CD, "The Road to Ubatuba" was released in April, 2006 on Raincheck Records.
King's second full-length CD, "Dancing on a Long Leash," will be released in late Oct./early Nov. 2009, also on Raincheck. King's music blends folk, blues and jazz -- sometimes with a Brazilian tinge.
King is particularly interested in the track choices made by Last.fm listeners. On most digital sites, "Early Morning Rain" (a Gordon LIghtfoot song), "Silly Goose" (a King original) and "Corrina, Corrina" (a traditional) are the most downloaded or streamed tracks.
Here, the two most listened to are "June Bug" (an instrumental) and "Women Overseas." While "June Bug" has earned some attention on other sites, "Women Overseas" has been almost completely overlooked. It's one of King's jazziest and most harmonically complex songs, and it's one of his favorites.
King was born in Philadelphia, Pa. in 1954. His early influences were blues and singer-songwriters including James Taylor and Joni Mitchell. King studied classical music at Penn State University. He studied jazz and Brazilian guitar with Marty Ashby in Pittsburgh and earned an M.A. in guitar performance from Duquesne University in 1994.
