As a staff writer with ABC Music he wrote the song "Right Time of the Night", which was a Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 hit for Jennifer Warnes in May 1977. Three months later, McCann also reached the Hot 100's Top 10 with his own (and only) hit, "Do You Wanna Make Love", which reached #5. The song reached #11 on the Australian Singles Chart (Kent Music Report) in the same year.
