The release features material on audio CD as well as video DVD — both recorded at London's Brixton Academy on Monday August 22, 2005 and KOKO on Tuesday August 23, 2005. Over the Years and Through the Woods is sold as two different packages: either a CD case or a DVD case; both versions include the same content on the discs. The cover art includes an assortment of stylized letter Q's, which the band has used on the covers of previous studio albums (specifically, the blue Q is from R, the red Q is from Songs for the Deaf, and the yellow Q from Lullabies to Paralyze). The title font on the cover was taken from their self-titled album. The DVD content was directed by Chapman Baehler.
This Lullaby
Queens of the Stone Age Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Where O where can you be?
It's been so long, since the moon has gone.
0 what a wreck you've made me.
Are you there over the ocean?
Are you there, up in the sky?
Until the return of my love
This lullaby
My Hope is on the horizon
Every face, it's your eyes i can see
I plead, i pray through each night & day
Our Embrace is only a dream.
As sure as days come from moments
Each hour becomes a life's time
When she'd left, I'd only begun this lullaby
The lyrics of the Queens of the Stone Age's song "This Lullaby" explore themes of longing and desperation for a lost love. The opening lines of the song, "Where O where have you been my love? / Where O where can you be?" create a sense of yearning and searching for something that has been lost. The next line, "It's been so long, since the moon has gone," continues the theme of time and separation.
The chorus of the song, "Are you there over the ocean? / Are you there, up in the sky? / Until the return of my love / This lullaby," highlights the distance between the singer and the subject of the song. Despite this distance, the singer is still holding on to hope for their reunion, as represented in the lines "My hope is on the horizon / Every face, it's your eyes I can see."
The final verse, "As sure as days come from moments / Each hour becomes a life's time / When she'd left, I'd only begun this lullaby," speaks to the idea of the passage of time and how it can feel both fleeting and never-ending. The "lullaby" of the song is a representation of the singer's hope and longing for their lost love, a constant presence and source of comfort even in their absence.
