My Iron Lung
Radiohead Lyrics

Faith, you're driving me away
You do it everyday
You don't mean it but it hurts like hell

My brain says I'm receiving pain
A lack of oxygen from my life support
My iron lung

We're too young to fall asleep
Too cynical to speak
We are loosing it, can't you tell?

We scratch our eternal itch
Our twentieth century bitch and we are grateful for our
Iron lung

Suck, suck your teenage thumb
Toilet trained and dumb
When the power runs out we'll just hum

This this is our new song
Just like the last one
A total waste of time
My iron lung

If you're frightened
You can be frightened
You can be, it's okay

If you're frightened
You can be frightened
You can be, it's okay

Lyrics:

She eyes me like a Pisces when I am weak
I've been locked inside your heart-shaped box for weeks
I've been drawn into your magnetar pit trap trap
I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn black
Hey!
Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey!
Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey!
Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice, your advice
Meat-eating orchids forgive no one just yet
Cut myself on angel hair and baby's breath
Broken hymen of your Highness, I'm left back
Throw down your umbilical noose so I can climb right back
Hey!
Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey!
Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey!
Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice, your advice
She eyes me like a Pisces when I am weak
I've been locked inside your heart-shaped box for weeks
I've been drawn into your magnetar pit trap trap
I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn black
Hey!
Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey!
Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey!
Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice, your advice, your advice, your advice

A lack of oxygen
From my life support
My iron lung

[Verse 2]
We're too young to fall asleep
Too cynical to speak
We are losing it
Can't you tell?

We scratch our eternal itch
A twentieth century bitch
And we are grateful for
Our iron lung

[Chorus]
The headshrinkers, they want everything
My uncle Bill, my Belisha beacon
The headshrinkers, they want everything
My uncle Bill, my Belisha beacon

[Verse 3]
Suck, suck your teenage thumb
Toilet trained and dumb
When the power runs out
We'll just hum

This, this is our new song
Just like the last one
A total waste of time

And if you're frightened

[Chorus]
The headshrinkers, they want everything

The headshrinkers, they want everything
My uncle Bill, my Belisha beacon

@Charlie Sutton Yeah, was just thinking about this. Kurt was on another level and would've inevitably evolved NIrvana's sound and continued to make great music

This song was made about Creep and how it is their ‘iron lung.’ Someone who has an iron lung has to stay lying down for the rest of their life unable to move because the iron lung is attached to them and keeping them alive.
Apply this to Creep, this song expresses how the band depended on Creep to become well known and for many people it is the only Radiohead song they recognized. Creep was keeping the band from reaching their full potential and that’s where they felt like they were under an iron lung unable to move. But they needed Creep because Creep was the only recognition they had at the time.
This kinda reminds me about how Nirvana was mostly only recognized for Smells Like Teen Spirit and they were requested to play it so much, they would just preform it badly or carelessly. But Nirvana still liked Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Thom hated Creep so much, he refused to even play it at all.

Nirvana isnt only known for Smells Like Teen Spirit. If you are talking about the unwashed masses then so much the better for it. I consider Nirvana and Radiohead iconic bands that arent defined by just one song. I do however know that both bands didnt enjoy playing both those songs for that reason. Radiohead was a bit more vehement with their dislike. I always cant understand why Thom and the band felt as if they were constrained creatively by Creep and its success because they just kept pumping out masterpiece after masterpiece imho. Same with Nirvana although we were robbed of untold amounts of soul shredding heart breaking then bein assembled haphazardly to be filled again music when we lost Kurt.
