He has studied guitar with Martin Simpson and has already supported artists including Rachel Unthank & The Winterset, Davey Graham, Spiers & Boden, Findlay Brown and John Smith. In summer 2007 he took part in a collaborative project with Nitin Sawhney which culminated in a performance at the Royal Festival Hall and as a result has been appointed Emerging Artist in Residence at the Southbank Centre.

Sam supported Bellowhead on their 'Matachin' album launch tour, playing to capacity crowds at venues across the UK including Koko in London.
