He was a genius who played many stringed-instruments - like guitar, banjo, or the Middle Eastern oud - and he recorded this highly sophisticated album at a time when rock had not yet come into its own, other than the work of the original founders like Chuck Berry, Fats Domino and Little Richard in the late 1950s. Sandy Bull was the first to mix world genres, to combine styles like folk, blues, country, jazz, and classical some years before Brian Jones was to do this for the Stones, and before the west coast American rock bands were to create psychedelia. This is a milestone album that strongly influenced Jimi Hendrix and Steve Winwood, and many others. One of the most musically advanced albums that was to usher in the 1960s rock aesthetic long before that happened - a masterpiece of an album and definitely the most important pop album from 1963.
