The band's first release featuring new guitarist You Oshima, Graveward has been released in several different configurations: an international CD mastered by Tim Turan (Candlelight Records), a Japanese CD mastered by Oshima which is significantly louder and features several bonus tracks (Rubicon Music), and a double vinyl edition again mastered by Tim Turan which features substantially more dynamic range and a different version of one of the bonus tracks found on the Japanese edition (Blood Music).
The album features a dense, layered production style, with choral backing vocals on many tracks, many layers of synthesizers, and multiple layers of guitar as well. The band have described their style on this release as "Cinematic Horror Metal".
The album has generally been quite well liked by fans and well received by critics.
