This nightingale however draw the attention of the Flemish people in 2002, during the preselections for the Eurovision Song Contest. Her song 'All out of love' was considered one of the top ballads during the final. Despite the good comments Sonny didn't represent Belgium, but gained lots of airplay from the Flemish radio's. Hits like 'Superwoman', 'Friday night forever' and 'Don't stop movin', gained a lot of airplay but the big breakthrough never came.
Top of the bill was a car accident in which Sonny was involved. It took her a lot of time to revalidate. It was one of the reasons why she didn't take part in the Belgian preselection of 2004. In 2005, Sonny returned to the music industry with the beautiful ballad 'Sunshine'. Once again she gained a lot of airplay but a big commercial succes didn't come out.
In 2006 however, Sonny took part for the 2nd time in the Belgian preselection show with the traditional ballad 'I'll be there for you'. The shock came at the end of the night, when the votes from the audience were told. Sonny, being one of the favourites, did not reach the semi final. It was the jury however who gave her a wildcard to go through.
In the semi final it was obvious for her not to go through to the final, and she also stated that she quit her music career.
